Can any projection stone be used in any pool?
I ended up trying to read the white hole station stone in the tower of quantum knowledge. It seems like this should have worked, since some stones have clearly been shared among multiple people (who could have been using different pools). The part that reads a stone operated, but no message appeared. Any thoughts?

I think projection stones only work with specific pedestals, yeah, which is a bit of a shame. I discovered this myself some time ago. Not sure why reading them anywhere wouldn't be an option.

Wait really? I always assumed they worked everywhere too

I think they work from anywhere. You can read a clue if placed near a wall and see a place when placed on a pool.
Some pools are obviously broken and can't be used but I think you can still have a vision of this place frmo somwhere else

From what I understand, unless you plug a stone into the corresponding planet's projection pool, it should work on any pool/reading wall. It's just that you can read the same messages in different places, as there are multiple locations with the same "combination" of message stones-- like mining site 2b and where their projection pool connects to.
