there are ways... but might be a bit extreme.
delete your save data, start again.

You can create a new profile instead of deleting your save - still means grabbing the launch codes etc., but a little less drastic than deleting your save, if you just want to experience the initial dialogue firsthand.

Tip: there's an option to pause game while reading text and during the translation tool (recommended early game).

Cons: game will also pause while reading ship logs. Meaning you can't use the autopilot to "pass time" while reviewing the ship logs.

That's just a personal cons tho. But I do prefer reading while the autopilot drives to the destination. Unless it passes by the sun.

The other admittedly minor Con is that you don't get to watch the characters animate when you're speaking to them. (And it might be easier to miss Gabbro casually handling the cyclone.)

Yours is the only real con, you can change the setting at the poster where you pick up your gear so if you want to waste time during autopilot you can always toggle it quickly.
