Outer Wilds

Outer Wilds

Statistiche:
Whats the time measurement used by the Nomai/Hearthian ingame?
I dont know whether to take the time measuremts given in game at face value or not. You can either say that ingame time was translated to human time for convenience sake or argue that the time given in game is nomai or hearthian, judging by whether the translator tool also translates nomai time into hearthian.

We learn that the nomai lived around 281,042 years before our loop starts.
Here 281,042 human years makes sense because the hearthians needed to evolve first, but at the same time nomai buldings/remains are still in a way to good shape for that to be true, a faster evolution for the hearthian would also be plausible (smaller solar system and all).
I dont know why, but this whole time thingy has been really bugging me.

Btw, i havent played the dlc yet so no spoilers about that pls

I think the problem with Outer Wilds - and a really cute thing about it too - is that despite it's a game with a pretty serious story that runs a pretty serious simulation of the solar system, it's also very unserious about anything else.

Like... look at the scale of the system. It's not even done for the sake of gameplay like "oh we'll make the map small but pretend it's big", no sir. The planets in Outer Wilds are just this small. And there's plenty more stuff that doesn't make any sense, especially in a game that's remotely serious about physics and lore behind it. Like the Hearthian tech being held by spit, duct tape and their enthusiasm.

And that's a game that has entire community on Discord discussing possible answers to all those loopholes and things that don't make sense. And they make a lot of sense figuring them out.

It's this many years, simple as. The time measurement is years. Not human years, Hearthian years or other years. It's just... years. It doesn't convert at all. It just is. Held by spit, duct tape and enthusiasm.

Hearthians operate by the same logic orks in warhammer do, if they believe it works it just works 😤
I don't think we should consider the heartian years are different than ours... even though a day on timber heart only last a few minutes.

It being a different solar system is exactly why it cant be the same as in ours. Our year is the time it takes for the earth to revolve around the sun once.

There is an argument based on how quickly the star goes from stable to supernova that Hearthians do not experience time at the same rate humans do.
