Dropping the artefact

Spoilers for Echos of the Eye

In the dreamworld you are usually only able to drop the artefact at specific spots (so far I have only found one in the secret place in the endless canyon) but I also noticed that you are able to do it in the elevator down to the raft spawning spot in the Endless canyon, so you are able to go into the glitched simulation and explore part of the house (obviously you can't use the hands) that way. I didn't find anything new. Is it an oversight, or is it supposed to be that way? I find it a bit immersion breaking that you can't drop the artefact just on the ground, even after you know that it might reveal potential shortcuts and stuff like that. And why would you be able to do it in the elevator, if the rest of the ground is artefact repellant? If there is an actual in game reason for it being this, please don't spoil what it is. I just thought it might be an odd bug

You can drop it anywhere, just look down slightly.

You're supposed to find out about the "droping the artefact glitch" after completing one of the 3 dream sections

They made it so you have to look down farther than normal to drop the artifact so that you'd be less likely to discover it by accident. I presume you learned this the intended way, since you mentioned the "Endless Canyon secret place".
