Is the DLC worthwhile? Currently on sale at my platform of purchase, so... However, I'm trying to get back into the game, but as posted here before, struggling with KBM controls on home planet with test rocket, so have put the game down.
The test rocket is arguably harder to handle than the actual ship, and the DLC is contained to a single place that doesn't require your ship (aside from using it to get there), anyway.
I can't speak to the DLC (only 4 hours into the game myself) but in respect of the controls, I really struggled initially and thought about ditching the game within the first hour because I hated them.
I pushed through and by hour 2 I was barely thinking about them.
It's not that the DLC is bad, it is just... different. It adds a lot, but it is also pretty long winded and kind of its own mystery box to unwrap and explore. It also has some seriously different gameplay aspects that feel very odd for outer wilds, something many players have complained about leading to some new optional gameplay settings options for the DLC.
TLDR, Play the Vanilla game first, then, if you really love the game and NEEEEED more, then consider trying the DLC with the knowledge that you may, depending on whether you prefer Lore or Gameplay, be moderately disappointed by the DLC. Lore is great fyi.
