RTX 2060 at 96% GPU use

Like I say in the title, I don't understand the high use of the GPU while I'm only using this game and sometimes spotify but without playing music.

Don't know fully why the games very intensive, but you can always turn down the settings. I'm playing at 900x1200 (I think) and the text is still very readable.

the game follows your screen hz example, 120hz will be 120fps. 144hz will be 144fps and so forth. the game has no fps limiter so ya gpu goes full force to whatever your screen is set. you can either make a custom file to limit the game to a certain fps rate or you set your screen to 60hz. which is what i did. tho my rtx didnt went to 96% usage, i was at around 80%, after i set my screen down to 60hz was it only arounf 40~50%

tho if your gpu and your cooling system can manage to keep your gpu under the temp which would be dangerous for your gpu (which is on nvidia cards usually 85°C+ (sorryi dont know jow much that is in °F) will you be fine regardless if it uses 96% or not.

if you are really scared, just limit the game via screen hz setting.

o there is a way to force this:

In your C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Mobius Digital\Outer Wilds directory, create a new .txt file called secretsettings.txt in that file, add the line PhysicsRate=120 , or instead of 120 whatever your target framerate is save the file, close it, and re-launch the game.

This functionality is hidden because easily allowing players to modify this can cause many issues on lower end machines. Try this out and see if it works for you.

I think that my screen is 144hz and my 2060 goes at 83°C, but I don't know how GeForce Experience works or what is overclocking.

i know all this is in german but its the options which lists how many screens you have etc.

on the bottom see you that i have 120hz. that is the option where you can set your screen to other hz options.

keep in mind that you maybe get ghosting stuff at 60hz since your screen is probably mainly modified for 120~144hz.

if that really disturbs you (its not as bad vissible in outerwilds) do the file thing which i copy and pasted. it works tho.

Cap your framerate at your refresh rate (60/120/144 etc). You can do that in the nVidia control panel -> manage 3d settings. GPU goes crazy at times especially on loading screens if you don't.

I have practically no idea aobout computers, but that's quite weird. I thought that the game would cap it.

Your GPU is running this high because, unless you cap the refresh rate through the use of V-Sync or FPS limiters, your GPU will render frames as fast as possible. So when not limited, your GPU will give it it's all to render as fast as possible. The only time your GPU should drop below that is when it hits a framerate limit. If your GPU is rendering *below* ~90% when not limited and running a vidoe game then that means something is (likely but not always) wrong and your GPU is not giving full power.

As others have said. You might want to start turning on the V-sync setting when you play video games, to avoid unnecessary stress on your PC and prevent screen tearing. Most games have this setting on by default, but some don't. Some people prefer unlimited FPS for some reason, but the truth is, you'll only get as many frames per second as your monitor allows you to see, so anything above that is unnecesary stress on the GPU.

I thought that the Vsync was turned on already when you start the game. I just have to press on the "X" on Vsync on options, right?

But I guess that using the 100% is bad for the GPU
