Because if you haven't, you're probably the kind of person who's going to complain on his next post that his game didn't save.... (which is absolutely normal storywise but you would'nt know if you haven't played more than 20 minutes).
I really want to like this game, but after about 1,5 hours I have quite a few problems with it. First, no 144hz which is a pain in the ass considering my 144hz monitor, but ok, indie game, walking simulator, no need for quick movements, I can live with below 144hz performance.
Controlling the spaceship is too hard, I died twice by smashing into the sea or to the ground, and also died because I ran out of oxygen.
The funny thing is, I died not once because of the timeloop mechanic. :)
Perhaps I'll play more with the game, but after 1,5 hours I don't feel anything special about it, just a usual walking sim which got extremely popular for some reason..
anybody who calls this game the "best game ever made" definitely have not played many games. One of the most visually stunning games ever? sure, but there is more to a game's enjoyment factor than it simply looking nice.
From what i've seen, a lot of the people who love this game fall into this category, probably the same people who think that breath of the wild is one of the best games of all time.

Also I'm super confused whenever people call this a walking sim. Walking sims are:
1) linear games
2) in which you walk
3) through a narrative heavy experience
This is an incredibly non-linear game in which you fly (and as you've even commented, newtonian space flight can take some learning, so it's very different from walking by just holding down a key) and there's actually not really a heavy narrative. It's there, but the plot was written around the game instead of the game just being an excuse for the plot.
I'd consider the average Call of Duty far more of a walking simulator than this game, so I have no idea why people come up with that description.
This is the best game I've ever played, and it's honestly not even close. I even went through and made a list of my favorite games to confirm I wasn't exaggerating how good it was to myself.
Other games I've played have been great, but this is the only one I consider perfect. Usually they're ambitious, but flawed - but there are no flaws at all here, and nothing I would change (well, maybe one section of the DLC slightly, but nothing in the base game).
Eh, not me particularly - my favorite game list is mainly immersive sims, isometric RPG's, 4x games, Paradox games, and Dark Souls/Bloodborne. I guess a few indie puzzle games and stuff. Played a little breath of the wild and it was pretty fun hurling things around with magnetism, but it also seemed a little bland, hardly best game of all time material.
Basically, the question is: Do you like exploring in a game? If so, this is the game for you.
If not you'll wonder what the point is.
It's the unique entry in the genre of Exploration games. Since I personally love exploration - see the fact that I like immersive sims and Dark Souls mainly for their exploration being excellent - it's the best game I've played since it gets to the point and doesn't shove in clunky inventory mechanics, bad combat (like basically every RPG, to be honest), artificial unnatural puzzles, or excessive pretentious dialog.
I thought this game was great, but not my favorite game ever, and I wouldn't even put it near the top. My favorite games are Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Metal Gear Solid, and Super Metroid I'd say. As you can tell from my picture, I was blown away by Cyber-Shadow last year as well, and that's shot up there to be one of my favorite games ever, easily the best game I played last year.
Oh yeah, in fact although this game is personally the best to me, I won't claim it's generically the best, and these are very much different. It's a bit of a niche game - if you don't enjoy exploring it'll do nothing for you, as opposed to something with a little bit of everything like Witcher 3 or AC Odyssey or Skyrim that most people are going to enjoy at least somewhat.
