You don't lose your progress...
There is a station in space where you arrive after falling into the black hole, it will bring you back to Brittle hollow.
If you start to fall again into the bacl hole try to rotate around it and catch the warping ray back up.

You'll eventually also discover several shortcuts from the surface into the planet.

There is a tractor beam near riebeck that comes up from the orbit of the black hole. Try and ram the beam to get back up. If you are having trouble finding stuff, go towards the poles (under the crust of course)
If you ever get frustrated with a planet or puzzle, go to another planet and find different stuff. There is even some stuff on timber hearth!
thanks guys, yeah, i was just starting to get annoyed by it, but i will do another thing

Also, don't fall into the trap of thinking that some locations are later on. If you can go there, you probably should be there.
The only exception is KINDA dark bramble, but do still go there before the last few loops so you know why it's somewhat late game. You just need knowledge to get through there. HINT Try ember twin. There are secrets hidden in the depths.

thanks a lot buddy. This game is really something else.
When I first started I made the mistake of trying to fully explore each planet one at a time. Part of the beauty of this game is that it controls the pace of the story with the knowledge and skill required to get to different places. So leaving the difficult bits and coming back later will give you the best experience. Most planets have 1-2 particularly rewarding locations that require a key bit of knowledge from another planet to access, and you'll appreciate these places the most if you know the context from the easier locations.

Also, getting practice with your jetpack on other planets makes Brittle Hollow a lot easier in general, because falling in that black hole is often a matter of misjudging jumps, right? You'll get a feel for it with time.
I never fell into the black hole, it starts to swallow the whole place im standing in, so that was my problem.

Ah yeah, parts fall in. Your scout has a integrity sensor so you can put it on the ground and be warned when that's going to happen - and I think most of the important places don't tend to fall in too early at least.
