Anglerfish impossible for me

Those final anglerfish before the Vessel are impossible for me. I've tried in the ship and without the ship. I always find at some point I am heading directly towards one and then if I tap the booster to move out of its way slightly, it comes and eats me. How on earth do you get past those things?

I'll try not to spoil it, but there are clues about how to get past it without being noticed.

have you explored ash twin?
have you found the sunless city?
have you found the angler fish skeleton?
have you read the messages around that?

Yep done everything and I know about not boosting etc... still find it impossible! Only thing I haven't tried is hitting Eject (didn't know you could do that). Just venting frustrating here I guess.

then, my suggestion for now, is to try "not boosting" more 😅

this hints that they only respond to noises

you'll notice in the dark bramble that there's no gravity or air resistance, so you maintain any momentum you have
and when you enter that area with the angler fish you already have a little bit of momentum

As a last resort, or if you're using a keyboard and mouse (which makes it impossible to limit your thrust) there is a mod called smooth thrust which will automatically limit your thrust to the audible limit for fishs)

At it's heart, this is always a puzzle game

You will never be put on a collision course with one, entering any area in Bramble always gives you a heading directly through the middle, no matter how you entered

You can't touch any thrust anywhere near them, but sound doesn't travel between nodes. Blast in as fast as you like from the outside, just let go of all controls before crossing over and you'll coast right by. By the time you reach the eggs, you should be in the clear

I've noticed that about 30 seconds of coasting is good before taking off again although they will start chasing. 40 and you're in the clear.

Have you got signal of capsule no 3 ?Find the capsule and shoot your scout to the vessel.then it allows you to go straight into the final node,(there are 3 shining nodes near the eggs but the real one doesnt glow at all)

It's funny because I used a visual cue instead : when I cruise past the entrance it's way too scary to look back to see if I'm far enough, but I noticed (after some trial and error) that when the eggs become visible I can start thrusting gently to the node.

I read somebody said to use thrust only enough to light up one of the directional lights. I use mouse and keyboard and and it's all or nothing. No nuance so I get noticed every time. I have had good success getting out of my ship and doing it that way but I tend to run out of air or fuel at the end.

If you're posting here, I'll assume you know the secret about the fish. You don't have to accelerate at all after getting inside. Just float along until you get to the eggs and you'll be fine. Even if it looks like you're getting close to a fish, don't worry, you'll just float right past it.

A lot of people give this hint and it's not super useful, both requiring a controller and isn't accurate, if you're close then even one bar is too much

Instead the answer is simply: don't thrust at all near them, line your ship up with the entrance, zoom in, let go of everything the second you transition, you'll coast right between them on a safe course every time. It's safe to move again when you reach the eggs

Don't try to avoid contact, you won't hit them even if you seem to brush against them, unless you have touched the direction buttons. Right before going through the portal, just let go of your controller completely until you are faaar past them.

I wish people would stop giving advice like "only use your thruster a tiny bit". Like, why do you think the thrusters are needed at all? Why can't you just demonstrate a modicum of patience? I think these are the people that never learned how momentum works. They must absolutely blast past every single destination when traveling in space and think autopilot is "too slow" or something.

Did you never come to a complete stop. I would drift for awhile and then I wouldn't go any further. I had to use thrust.
