Near ending help
So if I remove the warp core in the ash twin project, do I end the game? I have't found everything yet. It makes it sound like I end the time loop and possibly permanently die.

You're right, except for the ending the game part.
Haven't you found another place where a core could be useful ?

No, as I said I didn’t uncover everything. so, I shouldn’t take the core until I have everything? Would I actually permanently die if I did die and have to restart the game? Why isn’t there a safeguard to prevent such an issue if it’s so brutal.

There is no permadeath in the game.
And even the logs would register in case of "real death"

If you haven't found a place for the core, keep exploring.

Oh, so there’s no real consequence of taking it? I can wait until I discover the rest of the system?

Canonically there are consequences, if it's not plugged in when it needs to be you can die for real, you'll even see a game over screen and credits will roll, it acts like permadeath

The safeguard is that nothing will be deleted, you can reload and continue as if that loop was just a bad dream.

tldr: It can wait until you have a reaaaal good reason to take it

No definitive consequence for your player experience ;)

I would actually take it. Cuz hell man.

When the supernova starts to happen - if you plug it back in shortly after it's started it'll be too late and won't take in enough power to open the hole! Also obviously if you were holding it and you die, you won't have plugged it back in before the supernova either XD

Our death literally doesn't matter to any of it - to us it seems like we loop as soon as we die but really we just don't remember the rest of the loop, we just lie there dead until the supernova hits and restarts the loop

I hear it often that people talk about "permadeath" or "restarting"
and even if the game would delete your shiplogs, that would be quite pointless.

The game is built on the player learning and the game can´t erase your memory so it is absolutly impossible to reset the game ever.
also manny people don´t know this, but the shiplog was not intended to exist in the beginning and was only added because betatesters thought it would be helpfull to remind people of detailed informations. Wich it is.

It can't erase your memory but if you're only halfway into the game or, say, didn't write down the coordinates, or just wanted to chase the archeologist achievement, then progress loss absolutely has an effect

Then you just quickly return there and gather them again.
You maybe lost 10 minutes max.
The achievment maybe. but for the game itself it would be pointless
