did this game mechanic frustrate anyone else (spoilers I guess)
I really wanted to love this game, but that 20 minute timer of each run really put a damper on my enjoyment.

Like the game would have a planet with really interesting lore and mechanics, but I feel like I was being rushed the entire time to not really take in all the little details they made and made something that was supposed to be wondrous and breathtaking otherwise annoying, frustrating and stressful

I'm assuming that if this was opened, the reader is okay with light spoilers. If not, close this now.

I figure there needs to be a drive for why the time loop is a negative thing. The player needs to want to stop it, so it needs to be a bit frustrating.

I personally wasn't too hampered by it. There's very few locations in the game that can't be reached within a minute, and death has no punishment. If you are exploring something and the loop resets, simply go back. No loss.

There are a few locations where I was like "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I need to work fast" but this was the best part of the game for me; usually this was end-game content.

I suppose it's different for different people.

It's a time loop, not a time limit. Even if you only figure out how to make it somewhere at the last second, now you know the answer to reach it again immediately next loop.

It's very artificial pressure, it can give cliffhanger moments if you only reach somewhere at the last minute and are desperate to cram text into your eyeballs, but you have infinite tries, you retain all knowledge. A couple of minutes of effort to get back there gives you another 20 to carry on where you left off, and the game includes a mechanic to tell whether you got everything or need to go back

I liked the mechanics.
For instance, the first time you go to red amber, you might get stuck because of the sand but the next time you will know shortcuts to get to the main room faster and access previously buried rooms.

Just use autopilot and landing cam, not that hard even with keyboard.
Now if you try to land on the solar plateform, that is very hard because of the gravity.

I just fire the sun station. Resets the boom clock in the sun.

There is no time limit. Things reset after 22 minutes, but you can go back to exactly where you were at the end of the loop. You have unlimited time and unlimited attempts, there's no reason to feel rushed or stressed.

i think the timeloop helps break up your exploration. without the timeloop resetting you every 20min, you would just fly to each planet and explore everything in a fairly linear fashion, there'd be no reason to leave a planet until you explored everything there was to see. but since you get reset every 20 minutes, you're forced to pick parts of a planet to explore each loop, and then maybe move to a different planet and see whats over there the next loop

All the people that keep saying "its a time loop not a time limit" need to take their head out of their pretentious asses. If the game put a big retry button instead of the sun exploding at the end of the 20 mins the game would effectively be the same.

Do you not understand the difference between a limit and a loop?
