Wait, what if you held two different artifacts at the same time and went to sleep? You'd blow up and die and that would make you enter the other world, but you'd have already fallen asleep and be in the other world, so you'd be sent there twice, and have your body obliterated. Maybe it is a good thing that we only have use of a single hand.

Well the explosion would probably also destroy both artifacts, so you'd just be dead.
