Outer Wilds

Original version of the game
For some undisclosed reason, original alpha build of Outer Wilds was removed from the official website, which was a wrong thing to do, in my opinion. That alpha version is the entire reason why this game has gained attention and was funded in the first place. I think it would be nice to at least include it as a bonus with the new version when it will finally be released.

And while we're waiting for that to happen, original version can be downloaded from the archive:

Well, they have removed it from that link already. (((((((

The link works, I've just tested it again. You may have to try a few times before the download starts.
And why would they want to remove it from there? It's completely legal and is basically in public domain.

You can still download the alpha version, but it's been moved to the Mobius website: http://www.mobiusdigitalgames.com/downloads.html
Outerwilds.com is now solely for the new game it seems.

That version has no content whatsoever. You can't visit any planets.
I'm still struggling to understand what was their reasoning behind replacing the fully functional alpha version with this abysmal "demo". Well, other than trying to trick new players into thinking that full version didn't exist.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one feeling the same, even without that much to do the old demo was really satisfying to play

The link in my original post still works perfectly fine, and it undoubtedly came from the official source.
There's no reason to reupload it again and again.

I tried using your link but it didn't work for me. The download has a network error every time regardless of which device I use, hence the link repost in case anyone else was having similar issues.

^ was a bit of a necro but OK, I have to know, is this prototype just some kind of exclusive gamer, "I played the prototype before you..." kind of thing? What's the point if it isn't a fully featured game with more planets etc...?

Cause it's a version that they like to remember. I'm pretty sure everybody knows that it has less stuff in it, that's why it's called an alpha. It's just nice to look back at the thing that first introduced you to the game and look at what changed.
