Giant's Deep Broken?

How do you even get to the core of Giant's Deep? I've tried the 'legit' way, but none of the jellyfish come up even close to high enough to attempt it. They literally come up to their side of the current shield, stop, then go right back down. I can't use them if they never come high enough to try.

So I tried to brute-force it. Tried at 1500 m/s, 2500 m/s, and then over 7000 m/s (using the landing camera to insure I hit the planet). Every single time I just bounced off of the current.

I even tried a shuttle, not that it made any difference. Hit the planet okay, then it threw me out of the shuttle and into the surface water, refusing to let me back in (throwing me back out each time because gravity plate refused to grab me).

How the hell am I supposed to do this? Legit or exploit, I'm not picky at this point.

The Jellys worked fine for me maybe circle a bit around the core.
And for the other way in you need to be at least 10.000ms

First new attempt, hit 14km/s, completely missed the planet.
Second new attempt, hit 11km/s, hit planet, slammed into current shield, did Not penetrate.

Tried at least five jellyfish. Not a single one came up high enough, not even close. And yeah, even tried while outside the ship, no closer.

You mention trying the 'legit' way, but only talk about Jellyfish, which passes the second (electrical) barrier. There is also a current barrier. I also got stuck on this. I believe there is a model at the Southern Observatory on Brittle Hollow that teaches you how to get past the current barrier.

One of the tornadoes spins counter-clockwise, and will push you down instead of up.

Oh you poor soul. There's two obstacles, the current and the barrier. The jellyfish are used for the barrier, not the current.

Yeah you basically figured out half the puzzle but not the other half. Check out the Nomai ruins on Giant's Deep, they'll give you some leads for where to find the clue about the currents.
