impossible to leave dungeon and buy house for new villager

I've left the dungeon with more than 30k gold and a few items but i end up back at the city not being able to buy a house because im stuck with 4k gold no matter what. the house costs 4.6k and there is no way to gain money in the city zone so what do i do?

Generally speaking you have to finish the game to get the coin cap which is 4.6k iirc (was 5k a few months ago) so if you died the game may have decided not to give it to you.

I just had to keep playing and it slowly kept rising until i could get the house
