As mentioned, activating focus makes it pretty easy to hit far shots. A lot of the action is more 'mid-range' anyways, at least in the earlier missions, so it's not excessively frustrating if you have trouble stabilizing your aim.
I hate virtual stock with a passion as it does more harm preventing me from aiming than any good in steadying aim.
You might not like to hear it but steady hands are your best bet for steady aim in VR/IRL.
you probably are talking about Onward since it's the only game with terrible virtual stock implementation, in games like pavlov or H3VR virtual stock is kind of essential for long range encounters.
