Old man quest not completing

I turned in a golden egg to the Old Man today which made the egg icon and count above his head go away. I did not receive the achievement, however, nor do I have access to the bird hat reward. It's also blocking me from completing the achievement for completing all NPC quests. He still does not have any quest count above him. I do not recall if I got a treasure chest reward from him since I didn't think anything had gone wrong at the time so didn't think to note any details other than that I turned it in, especially since my droids were going crazy harvesting stuff since I hadn't been to the island in a while and it was all a bit of a hot mess. I want to say that I did receive it, but can't 100% recall. Saving, exiting and restarting the game entirely from Steam doesn't fix it. Currently he is saying the following statements when I talk to him:

"Pay me for the door repair charge"
"Walk into the waterfall"
"Eastmost [sic] penninsula [sic] is the secret"
