Giant Crystal, when mined by a droid, might cause a bugged state

Just a couple minutes ago, I:

1. unlocked the Giant Crystal tile near the top side of the map,
2. went and done something else without visiting the Giant tile,
2. bought a droid from the Market,
3. was harvesting resources from right-side Desert tile,

when suddenly my droid shot a beam towards a Snow tile with Giant Crystal. I got the "mine giant crystal" achievement, but the Miner NPC left over on the tile keeps saying, among other responses, "Can I get some help over there". I'm not sure whether that's Working-As-Intended, or was I supposed to get a reward (besides the achievement) for mining giant crystal.

Also, I noticed a debug message in the bottom left corner of the screen, saying something along the lines of "Quest State not found".

The fact that his dialogue didn't change does sound like a bug but you didn't miss anything - the reward is just the resources the crystal drops.

Just ran into this. Was able to buy a bunch of land pieces and by the time I got to the miner there was no giant crystal and had to Google what I had to do for him. Would be nice if we could just issue a terminal command to spawn it and reset the quest status, rewards aside I actually like completing the quests my first playthrough of a game. Would be great to get this fixed so droids can't target that object if the quest isn't active, or at all and a way to reset the state of the quest.
