Worth playing?

I purchased this game long ago and never got around to playing it. I keep reading that it has been abandoned by the developer. It is still worth playing in its current state?

I would recommend it. I bought it after playing Stardew Valley and Littlewood and was genuinely surprised to see that I would like it that much. You can easily spend more than 50+ hours into it (unmodded) and even more if you are interested in downloading some stuff from the workshop. Just be aware that you have to grind a lot to make proper progress.

The game didn't suddenly become "unplayable" because the developer stopped working on it. It was a good enough game to recommend for the money at the time of your purchase -- it remains so.

It's just done in terms of development. There's hundreds of hours of gameplay in the title, and I think of it as a finished game.

The game wasn't abandoned. Are dev's really supposed to work on their games in perpetuity until the end of time. Games finished. Good game, played it on launch and got 20 hours out of it. Playing it again now and their is even more content in the game now.

I agree with your comment. Due to the cancelation of a possible multiplayer mode a lot of people tend to describe the game as "abandoned" or even view it as "unfinished" because they still expect the developer to implement this feature. Which is sad because it dismisses the fact that this is a pretty solid game itself.

I never was looking for multiplayer, however to the people who were I can understand both their disappointment and anger. That said multiplayer isn't a required feature for a game like this and would purely be supplemental to the game that is already made. Multiplayer doesn't necessarily make a game better just allows you to engage with it differently. Some caveats exist to that of course. Having played more today I feel it would be a real shame for someone to pass on playing the game because of those who expected multiplayer to be implemented.

The game is decent with a fair amount of content. It's got some elements of Terraria, FEZ, and Stardew. It's a bit slower with some more grind than similar games, so I ended up quitting for a long while.

My main gripe is with the controls and targeting. I prefer the gamepad, but it always aims to the right unless you use the second analog stick. Using the mouse isn't much better. I kinda wish it had targetting was closer to Terriaria. Maybe there's a mod to fix it? I'm currently stuck on a couple achievements as well. Waterproof seems bugged.

Not to invalidate your experience or anything because obviously its subjective, but I never had an issue with the targeting except for around the floating log platforms.

It would be better if the game used the direction of your mouse to target things instead of having you put the mouse directly on top of objects.

Absolutely, the game is well developed and is very fun to play. Just be very careful what you do in temples, you can easily get stuck and won't get out.

It is fine for what it is but when I finished it the 1st time, I was like "really? that's it?" At that point I wasn't really bothered by it because it was still in early access so I expected to get a lot more. However, that never happened. One of the selling points for me was the co-op feature which never made it to the game but I can see why - the game is too short for that. It took me like 15-20 hours to finish the whole thing mostly due to the grind you have to go through to unlock everything. I have 100/103 achievements and don't bother to unlock the rest because you need to get like 1M gold and you get like 200 coins per hour. Resources are infinite so with time you could just craft a bunch of banks that generate gold but I got bored at 100 something K because there was nothing else to do for me instead of standing and watching the gold to generate.

There are ways to get the rest of the achievements. Look at some guides.

Infinite money: stack Lighthouses and use the Death Rod
Infinite resources: stack Lighthouses and use scrolls.
Infinite Spirit Orbs: farm the Void Portal and craft Toxic Guardians
Infinite Droids: Marketplaces

it was abandoned. multiplayer was promised, which is why i purchased the game, so that i could play through it solo first then with friends later. literally scammed me out of my money
