Forager

What happened?
I remember there used to be a whole roadmap for the game updates, but it's been cancelled? I can't really find any official statement from the dev, but is this true? No multiplayer?

He attempted to add it and even hired other devs to look at the game to work out multiplayer. From what the dev said the coding of the game is too messy to support muti without crashing. So if we wanted multiplayer the game would need to be rebuilt from the ground up.

At least he legitimately tried.
Maybe in Forager 2 if they make it.

The game dev HopFrog had lied about game progress for two years blamed other devs never took any blame on themselves turned out to be a homophobic transphobic person promised refunds to those who got it for multiplayer (I had got the game to play with my friends 3 copies of the game all at full price) but never gave any. If there is a 2nd Forager the only way I will be playing it is I get the game free and it has Multiplayer out the launch due to how ♥♥♥♥ the reactions of the first game was for that.

Yea... I am going to need a source or three on that whole comment.

Damn, thats kinda disappointing. I really enjoyed this game and was looking forward to the multiplayer coming out.

Well that's a complete scam then. I only bought the game for the promise of multiplayer. I'm surprised there hasn't been bigger backlash for this.

I was able to get a refund by messaging him on the discord.

Don't bother refunding now, he won't give a damn by this point. He didn't even have the courtesy to post a news update here on Steam. He immediately backed out when he realised he couldn't add multiplayer... and then thinks that anyone would buy his new game, for some reason? Like, I get it, he was too ambitious about what he could do with the game. But he acted like a ♥♥♥♥ to the people he paid to work on it, and then refused to post something here on Steam, just so he could avoid losing any potential sales from people that didn't know any better.

I really wish steam was harder on devs that don’t deliver promises, via blatant false advertising or just outright abandonment. I’d say the most annoying thing is that there *is* a multiplayer version out there, yet he doesn’t release it and just drops the game dead after allegedly treating his hired dev team poorly in favor of chasing a profit. Steam should ban game devs/studios that engage in dishonest acts like this. Not fair to the consumer, an in this case, the dev team

I do agree with you there, but I also wish that people would stop buying into these promises and just buy what is there NOW.

I agree with you to an extent. But at the same time, so many games come out with amazing promises in the future, but they need the money now. And they end up delivering like crazy. Ever space 2, risk of rain 2, hell, maybe even no man’s sky to an extent.

The concept of giving a game money when it isn’t finished is not the issue. The issue is game devs asking for money and falsely advertising the game by not delivering such things, and doing nothing to make it right. That’s the issue, not supporting early access games.

Thanks for linking those articles about Forager, as someone who recently got back into the game after playing it during 2020, it was confusing to see why the roadmap hadn't progressed at all.
(This was in reply to Petalwing, Steam wouldn't let me quote their reply for whatever reason)

I don't think I'm going to try and get the game refunded, it's still pretty fun, but I think I'll just see what mods have to offer as far as this game goes, and also avoid supporting any of Hop's future projects.
