There are alternate game modes as well with different goals
But the main game has all the resource gathering which can take some time, the different puzzles and challenges on islands, 2d LoZ style dungeons that can take some time and a number of other stuff.
I'd say it took me around 30 hours to 100% everything in main game (which is pretty much the main goal of the game) at my pace anyways
Now for the combat update coming out sometime this week,
its made fishing less grindy and added a bunch of new items,
overworld bosses, a combat based endurance dungeon (go as many floors as you can until you reach the end), more upgrades to your tools, more passive items, reworked level upgrades that now make the less interesting level ups more rewarding and useful and so on.
While some things will be easier and take less time, the rest of the stuff should add a few more hours or so at least, plus I hear there may be a sale when that update comes out.
