Forager

How much content is in Forager?
Wondering how much active playtime there is in Forager, be that with or without the upcoming Combat Update. I try to buy games rather sensibly, meaning I won't find a game worthwhile if I can't get at least X hours of active, enjoyable gameplay out of it, X being the amount I paid for it in Australian dollars.

In this case, the game is $29AUD, so would I be able to get 29 hours of active play from Forager? I stress "active" as a lot of the reviews tout about the game being an idler (which, judging by the demo I played, doesn't seem to be the case).

Thankyou in advance to anyone willing to help with this :)

I've completed this game two times and have 77 hours on it. Admittedly some has been idling, but not much. And at the beginning you can't idle until you get certain things that will collect resources for you. I never had much trouble finding something to do in game while waiting for things to finish being made. I haven't played much of the combat beta, I prefer to wait and play the finished product, but I am thinking that it adds enough extra stuff going on that you'd have even less time having to idle before you'd have something else to do. I wouldn't want to pay for a game that costs this much either if it was mostly idling. Hope that helps!

Certainly does, thankyou :)

I have 27 hours for one full clear pre-beta, and some of that was wasted because the rare fishing drops had (at least before any Combat Updates) crazy low drop rates so it took a couple hours per biome just to get 10 of those after doing everything else.

It's one of those where you start off doing things by hand and automation is something you work towards because later on, you need more stuff than you could possibly craft by hand.

There is a ton of stuff to do and as people said it never really becomes an idler as the automated parts are things you'd need to make in such an amount that you couldn't do it by yourself.

There are alternate game modes as well with different goals
But the main game has all the resource gathering which can take some time, the different puzzles and challenges on islands, 2d LoZ style dungeons that can take some time and a number of other stuff.
I'd say it took me around 30 hours to 100% everything in main game (which is pretty much the main goal of the game) at my pace anyways

Now for the combat update coming out sometime this week,
its made fishing less grindy and added a bunch of new items,
overworld bosses, a combat based endurance dungeon (go as many floors as you can until you reach the end), more upgrades to your tools, more passive items, reworked level upgrades that now make the less interesting level ups more rewarding and useful and so on.

While some things will be easier and take less time, the rest of the stuff should add a few more hours or so at least, plus I hear there may be a sale when that update comes out.

Supposedly the combat update comes out Tuesday.

Thanks for all the input guys, I'll definitely be picking this up with the upcoming update & sale :)
