I only checked the steam forums after noticing the dev's Twitter no longer existed and was curious about why. I guess his mentions haven't been fantastic to deal with after this.
I'm not gonna pretend to be sympathetic, the balance changes ruined the game for me a long time ago and multiplayer would've been the only thing that would make me care about it again, and IMO the lead developer should've addressed the grind issues sooner if he thought they were problems, but his response is better than most devs I suppose.
Only one that i can confirm was working when relased. No idea if it's still working
If steam doesnt allow you to get a refund, try e-mailing developers. If it doesnt work, you can get a refund with "legal" ways, but it depends on what country you live in.
People who buy a game based on an uncertain premise shouldn't be allowed to complain ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's buisness not a circle of mutual adoration, this feature was promised and wasn't delievered. If it was ok - i wouldn't be able to get refunded based on breaking a consumers rights act in my country.
"Passed it on" is a pretty gentle way of putting it as well, the other developers sound like they were almost forced out.
Surprising to see the refunds being given though, that's a nice move at least. Takes quite some effort to do refunds outside of Steam's automated system.
