Best spots to build a home base?
I'm near the end-game now and I upgraded most of my skills/gear. I wanted to build several furnaces, factories, and other benches to process the endless stream of resources I'm getting (mine rods are damn OP!). So I cleared several islands in the desert area. It's big enough and no enemies spawn nearby.

I tried to organize my benches and stored most items in vaults. It's mostly neat, but it's getting really crowded. There isn't enough space to build more if needed. Not to mention bigger structures like light houses, oil drills and power plants (yes they're not essential but still very helpful).

Any ideas for a better area? Tips to better organize my stuff? Anything else to keep in mind?

By the end of the game, once I cleared the islands of obstructions with the Obliterater and cleaned it up, I split up my islands into different functions. Vaults on one island, factories on another, an island just for furnaces, etc. It might be a pain to move everything around, but the Obliterator also works on your structures so you don't need to slap those things for an eternity after that.

I moved my vaults last so that my items wouldn't sit on the ground waiting while I moved everything else hahah;;; Tried to split up my item storage by function: Foods in here, Animal drops here, Flowers here, Forage Plants here, raw ores, processed ore, factory items, so on and so on.

I spent a while just.... removing all my structures and replacing them down. Dedicated work areas work wonders for looking more organized, and you can focus on making the spaces between your structures walkable again.

Having a "home base" in the end doesn't really work out. There's just too many items to do. The best you can do to make home base is spread all your organization in one section of the map.
