Dark bell broken

I tried solving the bell puzzle early in the game (third island I bought).
I have figured out what the solution is but it still remains unsolved no matter how much I try to input the code correctly. I tried doing it slow and doing it fast.
I have tried looking online for a solution but nothing has helped, I'm also refusing to start a new save as I dislike the progression the game has.

I had the same issue. It finally worked, when I was standing above (north of) the bells.

Maybe it was just a coincidence, maybe it was because earlier I was standing in the space where the chest would drop. This might help when you try next time.

I've tried doing that a few times and that did not work for whatever reason. I have reason to believe that because my save is older (when the game first released) an update broke the bells and thus I cannot solve them.

I was having the same issue and, yup, standing above the bells got the chest to finally drop.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I wait until the notes go away and then press it again and then do the bells before the notes disappear.
