yes thats what i already know but there are just some hyeroglyphs/weird geometrical icons there on the screens and i dont know what they should be displaying

once you realize what the numbers on the floor translate to it makes more sense.

First Hint:
Ignore the first four symbols in every 8 symbol set to make it a lot easier to understand. If you can't figure it out from there, then you don't know the solution in real life and the game won't teach you.
Bigger Hint / Flat Out Explanation:
The sequences under each monitor are Binary ASCII Character Codes. The ones below the monitor are specifically for numbers, 0011 is the first half of the codes for 0~9 and some symbols. The second half can be read as a binary number. 0011 1000 for example, is 8
Monitor Explanation:
One Shape = One. Two Shapes = Two. Three Shapes = Three.... so on and so forth.

The problem is that the first number is 53, not 5. The binary number is 00110101 which is 53. Is there a clue somewhere that tells you to ignore the first half of the number?

youre thinking of converting it to hexidecimal i believe. even then its 35 (not 53), which converts to 5.

Just use the wiki, that's a poorly designed puzzle - there's nothing in game to help solve it so if you don't know it with out of game knowledge you're out of luck.

i feel like it hints at it well enough, with binary being very recognizeable and the shapes being on monitors. even if you dont know offhand what it translates to, simply putting the number into google gives you the answer.

But that's still a "even if you know what it is you can't do it without help" that's not good design; a well designed puzzle gives you the knowledge to solve it (whether the player is smart enough to actually do it is another matter). Examples of well-designed puzzles in the game would be things like the actual riddles or (even better) the 'lights out' puzzle - everything you need in regards to how the puzzle works and how to solve it is in the puzzle itself. Whether you're the sort of person who'll keep going at it until it's solved, or give up when you're 'stuck' and consult a guide is a player trait and not the puzzle.

This however, is the equivalent of throwing a random phrase in an obscure language out and saying "translate this" without also providing a dictionary. It'd be another thing entirely if the puzzle gave some feedback as to if you were on the right track or not (maybe the consoles lighting up or locking into place when you select the right 'number) so you could at worst case scenario guess/brute force your way into the solution.

Great. Put the number that I posted above (which came directly from the game) into a binary to dec converter and let me know what it comes up with. HINT: It's not 5.

I immediately understood it was in binary, but was too lazy to actually solve the puzzle myself
