How do I use a fishing rod?

I'm in the endgame and I need to get Karken's eyes, but to get them I have to fish in the void, but I don't know how to fish. Any help?

P.S. Forget fishing, just buy them from the night merchant.

The gloves need 30 kraken eyes alone, so... it's a bit much to just buy from the merchant. But yeah, fishing is basically "wait for like 15~30 seconds, catch, repeat". Might take a couple void trips to get enough, but since the first floor is fine, not a big deal.
