Unfortunately, based on the wording of the update note, I thought I'd just be able to start a new game with it... and deleted my old save to have my hard mode save in slot 1.
Brutal.
Not really sure why Hard Mode had to be locked behind it, couldn't there have just been an warning for example about it or? Whenever I play games, I always pump the difficulty to max on my playthroughs.
BUMP
Also @Vess, I guess Hard Mode is unlocked based on completed Feats. Idk if it's by completing a specific feat or a certain amount... but ya. Deleting saves clears the feats of that save, so I effectively have zero feats now.
New Game Mode: Hard Mode.
Hard Mode is available directly from the main menu when creating new savefiles, and it allows you to play Forager in a MUCH more difficult setting. All enemies are stronger and will attack your base, new enemies will also appear at night, and resource costs are increased!
I personally don't want to play through classic again, to then play the mode I want. Ill just burn out on classic.
