Nintendo Switch performance
The framerate is starting to feel a bit choppy when compared to other titles.
Have you considered lowering the resolution somewhat? I dont think it would be very noticable.

Hi Dino,

The next patch which will release in about 1-2 weeks includes an improvement to the control resposiveness. Can you tell me once you get a chance to play that patch could you write back if this improves the situations.

Sure

I think you should aim for 60 fps rendering though. It feels unecessary sacrificing performance for crisp visuals in a game like this. Especially since the art syle isnt aiming for realism anyway.
A smooth fluid feel would be so much better, in my opinion.

Sorry Dino the Switch GPU is not capable of hitting 60fps with the ue4 engine. The other games targeting the Switch using UE4 have all targeted 30fps, as does TINY METAL.

If you would like to play on a system with a stronger GPU there is always the PS4 or PC version of TINY METAL. Sadly these platforms are not portable.

Hi,

I've tested the Steam version at a friends place. And I've waited with my purchase since I'd gotten the Switch. But I am highly disappointed with the graphical quality during the tv mode. It's super blurry. Any chance to get this improved without affecting the performance too much? Don't have to be 1080p. But it feels more like a upscaled 576p video without any filters.

Keep up the good work. Game is super fun beside that :)

PC will be a lot crisper naturally. Id rather not see a bump in res because the performance is alrdy lacking.

Perhaps introduce a performance mode and a graphic mode, like Fire Emblem Warriors?
If I can I would like to add an option to enable the self-adjusting resolution technology Epic Games is adding in the next version of UE4.

Its odd that docked mode is looking like 576p to you since it is full 720p. I guess it is a product of how most other games use a lower resolution then use an expensive upscale algorithmn. For TINY METAL I tried to do the opposite, run at the highest resolution then use a cheap upscaler. I know Snake Pass used the low-rez high-cost upscaler method.

To be honest I just wish I could get everything to run at 30fps full resolution, but I think I might need to abandon that and do what other games do.

I think the art style would be very forgiving, when relying more on upscaling than actual hard res.

Anyway, good luck. Looking forward to future updates.

Hi Daniel,

thanks for reaching out to us regarding this topic. I cross my fingers that you'll find a solution. A bit clearer visual in the combat graphics (as well as a bit less improvement on the map screen) would be highly appreciated. This would make this enjoyable title even more enjoyable.

I just realized the docked perfomance is actually very smooth and satisfying. Its the portable mode that is lacking in framerate.
