It is also playable in VR, however you'll want to use Modder Riqorms 'PlayHomeVR' mod - which is based on Eusth's Honey Select VR mod and features the best teleportation mechanic I have seen in any VR game.
There are also English Language mods available, however I am unsure if they are complete.
However, VR was only an afterthought for Play Home. There may be performance issues.
The biggest problem is that you can't easily buy Play Home. It is only available in Japan.
Illusion is to my understanding still blocking non-japanese IPs from buying/downloading it.
Play Home features r*pe and as such will most likely be under heavy scrutiny were it released in the western market.
I'd personally recommend Honey Select over Play Home.
Even though Play Home is graphically superior, Honey Select has a massive amount of mods and thanks to those 4k texture mods it looks very good. Clothing and accessoires mods let you recreate any popular character.
It has also recently been made available in the western market through Fakku.
Honey Select - to my knowledge - features only consensual sex.
However, as with Play Home, VR was only an afterthought and as such there may be performance issues simply because the engine wasn't optimized for low latency requirements.
Do make sure to use Eusth's awesome VR Mod!
I got both working fairly well in VR, however there is a point to make that from a technical and character interaction perspective VR Kanojo is the best VR game out of the 3. It lacks much in content though.
As for how to get these mods and more info on the games check out Hongfire.
I would love to see them expand VR Kanojo though with more playable content/ story etc. Because basically there are no achievements, and as far as I know I’ve unlocked everything :( replay is low unless your just wanting to revisit the same experience.
Agreed. I believe there can be much money made with a bunch of free upgrades to increase the amount of content as well as offering paid DLC to make further development worthwile for the company.
More scenes and interaction possibilities as free updates,
different characters as well as more clothing & accessoires as fairly priced DLC would make a good combination.
I'd also like to just be in the room and watch the girl randomly interact with various objects instead of having linear scene progression.
For example when you start the game she is in the room reading a book, then moves on to train yoga, then takes a nap, cleans the room,... and whenever you wish you can interact with her and start a h-scene.
Eventually there'd be a whole house with a bunch of interactive content and you can just sit in the living room watching twitch on the ingame tv (needs to be big because of vr resolution) while one of the many girls cooks something for you in the connected open kitchen.
Doors could act as triggers connecting the various small levels so you wouldn't even change much on the programming side.
No need to real-time stream assets, though of course the whole house as one big level and streaming the assets in as you move around freely is preferable.
Maybe more haha. Been there done that, the struggle is real.
Though I do agree that HS is probably the most well rounded game for these kinds of things, the only thing that it needs is official VR support.
You weren't modding Honey Select correctly then. I have so many mods in my game, and the only times I've run into conflicts are when slot IDs are the same which is easy to fix with the HS_SlotID program. There are mods that conflict and change the same things but you either pick one or the other like the uncensors and texture replacements for example. The only problem I've ever had with HS was the 4k mod screwing up and desaturating the colours but I fixed it by changing options in the ini files.
If you have a little bit of modding experience (I've gained it over the years ever since I first started modding Morrowind) any problem is fixable. Sometimes you can screw up because you didn't read instructions for a specific mod, or it's outdated and doesn't work with the game anymore, and sometimes you can stuff up because you didn't install something in the correct order.
I find the same thing with Kanojo, hell i can't even work out how to move ...im just stuck in a position unless i physically walk around..and what would be the point of that?
I believe they added the Studio for Play Home with a DLC.
As for Movement in VR Kanojo:
---copypaste---
For Vive: Click the Grip Button on the left Controller. Clicking Up-Down-Left-Right on the Touchpad now lets you move forward, backward and sideways. The Touchpad on the right Controller lets you go Up and Down and rotate the view left and right.
Click Left Grip Button again once you are done.
Btw: Right Grip Button brings out a Smartphone Camera.
---end---
A teleportation mechanic like in Eusth's mods would have been much better but it works.
