Can't Open File Error Message
What is the fix for the following new error message I get loading SOTR?
"Can't open file pcx64-w\hallucinogenic_smoke_sphere_arrow.neutral.drm"

My overall opinion is that support has been poor. I've paid for this game and DLC and almost none of it works. I was instructed to do a long list of stuff to fix, but it more than should be expected of a general player. Please just tell me in simple stepbystep detail or refund my money. I have been denied a refund because I've played 2 hours. Well it takes that long to hit the Arrow bug. And this game was playable on my AMD PCs, until recently. My intel game PC with Nvidia 1050 have never worked.

was one of those steps to run "verify integrity of game files"? sounds like one of the files inside one of the game archives is broken. getting steam to re-download that file should likely fix the issue, or perhaps it's a folder permission problem.

I've deleted everything SOTR, STEAM, all the C++ libs, all the VR accessories. Starting from scratch. Will know later tonight.

Still I am skeptical of that it is a bad file. If that were so I would not expect it to fail on all 5 of my windows 10 machines with exact same message.

Reinstalled SOTR and Steam. No error messages appear when I click Start except that it is syncing... After that nothing ever happens. Period.

Verifying the HDD was the first thing I did. Is uninstalling everything then reinstalling the STEAM and Game enough to repair the file error. Anyway I don't have the file error. I have something that will not even complete the load phase.

Reinstalling other games to see if they fail too.

Going to my other machines to see if they still work on the non SOTR games.

I am angry. I have worked as a developer. The problem currently is a BUILD bug. Two DLLs are missing from the SOTR run Folder. This is consistent. I don't know how it can work for anyone without MSVCP140.DLL and VCRUNTIME140.DLL. My ROTTR has those DLLs and starts fine. Can someone please help me find the right support agents to get me to the correct install build with complete detailed instructions. As a user I should not be copying DLLs from one folder to another to make things work.

Finally SUCCESS! Seems the missing DLL issue I'm encountering was common enough to have a published fix. I downloaded a C++ Redist and installed it and "viola" it worked. Still seems smarter to follow the ROTTR build config, and just include VC DLLs in the base build. Whatever... My next move is to confirm that the Fire Arrows game crash bug is fixed also?
