Error: DirectX 12 and Dlss 4
the game does not open with DirectX 12. It gives an error with DirectX 11 and throws out of the game with an error.

The game DOES open with DirectX. SotTR does NOT have DLSS4. ONLY DLSS2. However, DLSS 4 programming is backwards compatible with older DLSS engine upgrades so it should still work great.

I'm betting the error you're getting is "your display driver hung"?

If so, you ran out of memory for your graphics settings. Try lowering them a bit or turn off ray traced lighting as it's a HUGE resource hog.
my pc i5-12400f 16 gb ram nvidia 4060ti 8gb. there is a dlss override - super resolution feature in the game. i made it ultra performance or dlaa. directx 11 gives an error, 12 does't work.

I had the same issue.
I turned raytracing off and the error stopped game working fine again
Think the new driver update is effecting games with raytracing
Jedi survivor had the same issue so turned raytracing off
and the game is working fine again.
Will wait on next nvidia update
Just turn raytracing off for now

I use Display driver version 566.36, DLSS version 310.2.1.0 with DirectX 12 with all graphics settings (including ray tracing) at maximum without any problems.
Specifically it's RT settings high or ultra. Keep the RT settings at Medium and the game will still work fine, based on the notes in what needs to be fixed in the Nvidia drivers:

Open Issues:

[Shadow of the Tomb Raider] Game may crash when Ray Traced Shadow quality is set to High or Ultra [5086423]

Thanks!
It appears that the latest drivers cause an error for the RTX 3080 when using Ray Tracing Ultra. Rolling back to version 566.36 completely resolved the issue.

Not ray tracing ultra

Simply roll back to Nvidia driver 566.36 and enjoy Ray Tracing Ultra until you finish the game while Nvidia addresses this issue in a new driver. =]

Yeah, the latest driver update is garbage. The driver installation hung on black screen for me and I had to hard reset my PC and rollback.
Everything has worked fine since. Nvidia is really screwing the pooch here lately. With their cards and drivers.

Yes of course. The problem was fixed in the second update.
