I'm betting the error you're getting is "your display driver hung"?
If so, you ran out of memory for your graphics settings. Try lowering them a bit or turn off ray traced lighting as it's a HUGE resource hog.
which setting do i turn off? is the rtx? and ray tracing?
I turned raytracing off and the error stopped game working fine again
Think the new driver update is effecting games with raytracing
Jedi survivor had the same issue so turned raytracing off
and the game is working fine again.
Will wait on next nvidia update
Just turn raytracing off for now
ok thank you
nvidia 572.42 updated
Open Issues:
[Shadow of the Tomb Raider] Game may crash when Ray Traced Shadow quality is set to High or Ultra [5086423]
I working directx 12
nvidia 572.42 updated
turn off ray traced
Thanks!
It appears that the latest drivers cause an error for the RTX 3080 when using Ray Tracing Ultra. Rolling back to version 566.36 completely resolved the issue.
Not ray tracing ultra
Simply roll back to Nvidia driver 566.36 and enjoy Ray Tracing Ultra until you finish the game while Nvidia addresses this issue in a new driver. =]

Yeah, the latest driver update is garbage. The driver installation hung on black screen for me and I had to hard reset my PC and rollback.
Everything has worked fine since. Nvidia is really screwing the pooch here lately. With their cards and drivers.
Yes of course. The problem was fixed in the second update.
