PC Patch Notes for patch Shadow of the Tomb Raider, build 1.0.453.0 (Patch #20)
We have just released the a PC patch for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, build 453.0.

This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client.

This is an update of the previous patch 449.0, reintroducing the features added in that patch while avoiding the issues reported by players after the last release.

New features and upgrades in this patch include:
  • Upgraded NVIDIA DLSS to the latest version.
  • New improved shadow denoiser for use with ray traced shadows.
  • Updates to multiplayer infrastructure to use Epic Online Services. Use of an Epic account is entirely optional.
  • Fixed specific compatibility issues with Intel GPU hardware.

Epic and Steam account linking and crossplay.

1) If you’ve never linked your Steam and Epic accounts, you can launch and play Tomb Raider through Steam just as you always could.

2) If you have previously linked your Steam and Epic accounts the game will not automatically use your linked account. If you wish make use of your linked accounts, please enable the feature from the options menu>>multiplayer.

3) You can unlink your Steam account via your Epic account settings, or disable the use of it from the in-game menu.

We will keep monitoring for feedback and will release further patches as it seems required. We always welcome your feedback!

The previous build has been made available through a Steam beta branch. Build298.

In the new update, in-game prompt icons (camp, rope, looting etc) to disappear which is very annoying and makes it much harder (and no fun) to play...
I believe this is a sideeffect of FidelityFX CAS being buggy in this version, try disabling CAS, this should bring the icons back.
Unfortunately after I disabled FidelityFX (in the launch window since this option can't be edited in the game itself) the game just crashes when loading... So I had to rollback to previous version for now.

Sadly there is a problem with RT shadows, in peruvian jungle at least.. Shadows are flickering a lot :( Further fixes are needed

After update the game does not launch at all.
Latest nvidia drivers.
Steam is up to date .
I try launch over steam oc, but log states:
LogEOSAntiCheat: [AntiCheatClient] Anti-cheat client not available. Verify that the game was started with the correct launcher if you intend to use it.

"rise of the tomb raider" starts just fine.

@Devs - Don't suppose you'll be giving Rise of the Tomb Raider some RT and DLSS goodness will you ? Or at least updating ROTTR to the latest DLSS ?

The RT shadows look awful. Especially in combination with DLSS (quality). Image errors and flickering without end. Is an update no longer tested these days ??? You can't miss that! DLSS without RT shadow looks good.

Good job with the update, gained some fps since last update
I hope this update don't bring bugs in game though

FIX: i had an OLD VERSION of Epics game launcher on my PC already installed.
I updated the version to the latest one (happens automatically after "launching the launcher") and both games SOTTR and ROTTR start again

That's in the log. No dump produced. Sorry, Square Enix but this is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ release. I've verified the game files, rebooted my system, but I can't run the game, as it crashes as soon as the logos vanish.

(edit) Disabling FidelityCAS makes it work again. OMG... Like before, did you fire the intern that was suppose to do the testing?

Downloaded update and when it goes to the play screen where you can select options before it goes to the traditional start screen. A loud noise starts like a fan it’s either the video card or the cooling fans can’t narrow it down. It continues to rev as I play the game. Quitting game stops it. Other Ray tracing and DLSS games are fine. Uninstalling and reinstalling did not work. I checked the CPU and it jumps to 4.70 ghz from 2.04 ghz and the gpu jumps to 1725 ghz from 210 ghz

In patch 453, the game is using DLSS 2.3.2 which is a relatively new version, but not the latest version.

Here's a how to use DLSS version 2.3.4:
0) You'll need the latest NVIDIA driver
1) Go to C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA\NGX\models\dlss\versions\131844
2) copy the file "160_B9DB490.bin", which is version 2.3.4
3) paste it in another folder and rename it to "nvngx_dlss.dll"
4) paste the renamed file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Shadow of the Tomb Raider -> this will replace the old DLSS file.

The game might crash if you try this with beta build 449. Also keep an eye on your GPU temperatures. I personally recommend to disable RT shadows since I have only tested it without them.

btw I think the DLSS quality mode looks awesome with both DLSS 2.3.2 and 2.3.4.

Can we get some confirmation about what is the current state of DRM / Is Denuvo present in this build? That's all I want to know before re-downloading this game.
