SOTR: in-game shadows working fine for everyone?
Hello, everyone... This post comes on the back of this other one from myself, for those not faint of heart, please read it: https://steamcommunity.com/app/750920/discussions/1/3681064647077098666/

I've decided to post it here for I hope to be starting a discussion within this games' forum regarding the quality and functionality of some in-game Shadows, specially in forests, areas with ton of plants. I'm curious and concerned about it.

Is it all working for you? Everywhere in the game?
Or in places the problems I've indicated on my original post appear?
Examples would be in Mission of San Juan (outer areas with lotta plants), Peruvian Jungle with sun interacting with the scenario or even the newest tomb, The Path Home, outside with the rain before you enter the temple/cave of sorts.

I searched A LOT over here on Steam and the Internet in general, what I have found is that many people state this has something to do with computational limitations. Like... many people have the same issue AND THERE IS NOT an apparent solution. NVIDIA ain't doing nothing to solve since, as my tests indicate and many others', it isn't a hardware (their hw) issue.

What I don't understand is about other players... did everyone just get used to this issue?
I mean, if that ain't case for many people doesn't experience this, why does it happen to some folks only? I saw a lot of gameplay and none of that is usually there, only when someone is pointing out the problem as I did here.

My point is should I even bother to test it any further?
I'd have to put some money that I don't have, like buying a mobo for my retired Intel i7-7700K and test with it (ruling out the motherboard and or the processor) and/or I'd have to buy new cables for my PSU and test with both specs.

How about you, guys? How's the game for you?
Is this - like an apparent prick who does that on EVERY SINGLE POST about the theme on NVIDIA's forum - an impossible thing to solve and not even considered a bug?

I mean... I'm quite sad. PC gaming ain't that cheap, you know?
Why haven't I bought a PS4 or even waited for the newest genaration if computation has something like that? Wouldn't it be better spent $$$ and more stable? Or PC gaming is all about them FPS and stressing that with only your own rig being the limit the actual goal of PC gamers are those extra frames and quality issues like that just... happen?

Anyway, back to the question.

Switch to Directx11 and if nothing happens, stop.
It's just some shadows, just one game.

Unless you experience major issues with other games, I'd say you shouldn't bother.

I had issues with it crashing using DX12 and shadows. I've had lower shadows quality to normal/medium to stop them. Thus I haven't really taken much notice on shadows because I know they're lower quality than they should be.

Still having the random crash when loading a new area. Have to exit using task manager that shows it doing nothing. Not like my hardware isn't capable when I'm at 90+ fps most of the time.

Tks
Just edited over there!

I forgot to tell I've tried DX11 but yeah, I did and it persisted.

Regarding yr answer, I believe that's it. I stopped trying, I guess I was just really afraid of the issue originating on something like my GPU or processor.

Gonna try it out with lower settings, as well!
