My Game keeps crashing
My Specs: i9-9900k, rtx2080ti, 3800mhz 32gb dd4 ram, nvme ssd, fresh win10

My game keeps crashing to the desktop, temps looking good, made 2 rollbacks with the gpu drivers to 472.12 and 440.97 but this didnt helped at all, so now im back to the latest nvidia driver 516.94. I also tried to to cap frames but no difference (even with vsynch and 58fps cap like suggested on severel threads) Also doesnt matter at all which graphic settings i set, it crashes and crashes lol

Have you tried running it in DX11 mode instead of direct X 12?

crashes when? on start? after 5 minutes? randomly?
new game? played a long while on a save?
mods?

I have a 3060ti and the 516.94 driver. no issues.

maybe run the game from the game folder exe. sometimes an error msg will pop up not hidden by steam.

check windows event viewer and windows reliability history. might be a game crash event in either log. or system related errors.

I may found the problem, it was my xmp profile on the mobo which is now turned off.
I ve just set all the RAM settings manually and now it seems to work

Monitor your in-game RAM utilization by using third-party software like MSI Afterburner. If RAM utilization constantly increases this might shed some light on the root cause of your problem.

For me, the game crashes randomly after nearly 2 hours of gameplay. It has a "memory leak" issue. And so far, nothing I've tried solved it. Except switching to DX11 API via the game settings. This might lower your RAM usage and improve your overall gaming experience by preventing frequent crashes since DX11 consumes considerably lower RAM. Be aware that DX11 is worse optimized and as a caveat, you might get lower framerates like 40-50 FPS, whereas you get 90-100 FPS while DX12 is applied. Besides that, there's not much difference in terms of graphics quality since Ray Tracing does not make a huge difference in this game.

But, if you already solved your problem you can overlook the details above.

No thats a very good point of you, i already saw that aswell. I ve bought 2 more ram sticks of 16gb, increasing my ram to a total amount of 32gb. With MSI Afterburner i saw that the usage constantly goes up and when u have like 16gb in Usage it starts to stutter...

I know this issue from other Games aswell, at some point u need a restart to fix the problem.

I may try DX11 tho, thx for the input

After couple hours of playing without a single crash i can say I ve found a fix.

Disabling V-Sync ingame and enabling V-Synch in my graphic card driver!

Gonna give it a try. Thanks for the feedback. By the way, did you check your RAM utilization during your gameplay session?

Yes I did with MSI Afterburner. When I start SOTR its at 7.500MB utilization and then slowly builds up. 1 hour later and Im already at 14.500MB utilization. 1 1/2 hour later at 20.600MB.

So when you disabled the in-game V-sync and enabled the graphics card V-sync from Nvidia Task Manager, the RAM utilization was stable and DX12 was being used at that gameplay session, right? That is the solution.?

Yes with dx12 and exclusive Fullscreen disabled.
