Missing pickaxe in Peruvian Jungle

Challenge tomb requires it .. cant fint it nowhere... contiune with story and you will get it google said ... continue with story, get pickaxe, now try to double back and get into the tomb... but alas my way back is blocked in that area you fight the cat. Cant get back.
Google again. Google says : Thats how it is, continue with story and come back later.
What the ACTUAL fffffffffff ... thats some redarded ... the game is clearly beutiful and supposed to story driven .. WHO DESIGNS THESE MAPS? ... FIRE THEM !!!

What is tombraider ? I mean I can easily blast through the maps .. but tombraider is about exploring your settings right? RIGHT? ... so this is just so counter intuitive that it boggles the mind.. this is the second time I had this scenario and I am like 5% into the game .. I dont know if I can take 95% more of this ........................

Oh for pete's sake shut up and play until you get Fast Travel unlocked. Jesus I swear is this the first Tomb Raider you've played? Yes, manually back-tracking is not 100% possible. That's so you can't exit combat arenas and can't go back through scripted freerunning areas.

Listen you little. Maybe it is the first TR i ever played.... how tf would you know? Shut your trap. How was I supposed to know that fast travel is the way to get this sorted and how the hell was I supposed to know when fast travel gets unlocked? THERE IS NO GUIDE FOR THIS.

Thanks Mnemonic, that response made me laugh out loud. I too can't find the pickaxe, and I turned here. Guess not all have played TR games enough to know magically know how things work in a new game.

Ok, so you have to play until you get the fast travel, and then we can go back and do the tombs we had to miss the first time? I seem to remember a door I could not open very early on in the game too because I didnt have the reinforced knife or some other tool.

Ive not played TR in a long time and forgot about fast travel. I hope we can go back and do those areas because I do not want to have to play the game a 2nd time to do so. Im guessing in the new game plus we have all of our weapons and tool?

I too tried to backtrack to go in that tomb the OP was discussing and was frustrated I could not get through. I did go off on an odd path and find another tomb im in right now. Actually its a crypt.

You can't fast travel until you meet up with Jonah, you'll also find the dbl pick axe in the same location.

Ok. I just got the axe but I cant fast travel yet. That must come a bit later. I went back and did a crypt but cant get to the tomb. So it sounds like I get fast travel real soon. Hopefully I can go back to earlier maps too. I cant remember what the last Tomb Raider was like.

I don't remember much of the jungle, but if you can't use the fast travel, wait till you reach the 1st town. It will for sure unlock there and yes you can go back to the cave where you found the knife.

In fact you can 100% everything before you reach the 1st town.

and don't buy any weapons from the guy, you'll find all what you need.

Hi guys little bit late answer but for those who are playing games after some delay.. I was finding the same answer and I actually found it when googeling and playing meantime - after Lara's dream from childhood there are shortcuts just after you leave the area with Jonah, on the left side. Jonah will just lean on tree and wait for you. You can get back to him using pickaxes on the wall you coulndnt climb before, so you can finally finish chalange tomb and the other secret one even without fast travel. Looking forward to progress, amazing game even for those who remember first issue of Lara decades ago :) not only graphics gets improved, story is great so far
