What is the point of Denuvo in a 3yo game

There is no such thing as 30% performance gain by removing copyright protection. That is a troll campaign or in just one word: rubbish. Bypassing denuvo is same thing as playing the game in offiline mode if that bothers you.
As for your question, that is an anti piracy system.

I dont mind loosing a few FPS if this is necessary to ensure the Dev's getting paid for the work they do but still its 3 years old, i hope they have atleast a "light version" of it now.

ive owned several denuvo games and not a single one has performance issues. that myth has been busted several times over now.

Then, the store page is out of date. It was removed in the past month.

Denuvo was removed last week. It has been replaced by Epic Online Services instead.

Yes, Grognak, this all thread is based on misinformation from the very title which sounds like SE added Denuvo to an 3 years old game while the arguments you presented falls to description of "gullible". You complain without even knowing about what or why. Try to think for yourself and eventually you get where you should be.
The internet is full of lies and misinformation serving different interests (sales, slander, show off).

I heared about Denuvo causing problems and its not necessary for old games since they will be cracked after a while, now i know the problems are most likely caused by dev's and how they implement denuvo in their games.
However my question was: what is the point of having denuvo in a game that is 3 years old? It's a simple question not a complain and yes i tend to ask people if i dont know something this is what this thread is about.
Give me the right information if you think i read the wrong informations instead of just telling me im dumb, it's your chance knight.

There's the answer.
The use of copyright protection is publisher's choice and not for a debate based on "I heard it creates problems".
And I don't remember the use of "dumb" in my reply, I only suggested that you should take the information with a grain of salt because all those articles serves a specific purpose (most of the time other than just informing).
Like I said on another thread regarding the use of Denuvo in SE game (what a surprise): just because your house was robbed once it doesn't mean you should remove the door locks.
We can go all the way to "which was first? the egg or the chicken" but it won't change the fact that as long as the games are subject of piracy there will be copyright protections.
No copyright means much less money from pre sale and post release resulting on lowering the game quality because no one will do high quality work for low or no payment. Beside, no respected publisher will choose a copyright protection which affects lower the game performances with 30%.

Is it not obvious in my question that i know what it is? My question was why is it necessary after 3 years. Now because noone seems to be able to answer the question i did it myself and came to the conclusion that it is a necessary evil and if it costs a few fps to ensure that the defs getting their money then thats fine by me, if however it is badly implemented and causes lots of issues i probably wont buy the game.

Ok good point.
The thing which confused me was: if a crack is out there and people can choose to either buy it or get the cracked version, what is the reason for a protection after this point.
Some people say it takes much longer to crack a game if it has Denuvo than it takes with other protections like month instead of days and i thought thats the whole point of it, to force people to buy it as long as possible.
I didnt knew that it is so hard to remove or change parts of it.
