When is a Challenge Tomb "completed"?

I went into the Underworld Gate tomb, got the Eagle's Perch skill, and exited in the way you are supposed to leave (swinging vines and a rope bridge). A bit later I went into the Judge's Gaze tomb, got Caiman's Heart, and then a message popped up "tomb complete". I did not get that message for the first tomb, and indeed, on my achievements list it only shows one complete challenge tomb. I assume this is a bug, or is something else the matter? The main difference is that I died numerous times in the Underworld Gate tomb, but not in the Judge's Gaze tomb. Are you not allowed to die in a tomb for it to count as completed, perhaps?

you can see in the challenge tomb section of the menu before you load the game how many you've completed

the area on your map will also show how many tombs are in the area and how many you've complete

Yes, I know. It shows "1 completed". What I did notice that the Underworld Gate tomb was still bright on the map. So I went in, went out immediately, and it dimmed. I haven't checked yet if the map now says it is completed, but the achievement has not been recorded anyway. So it is probably a bug.

Best guess sez you didn't complete the map. Each of the 9 DLC tombs are in 2 parts, of those only 2 have bad guys (well 4 if you count the Manor and the grave yard) If you played them with a mate you would play only half the map. But they all can be played solo.

OK, I checked the main menu. I have unlocked two of the main game challenge tombs, Underworld Gate and Judge's Gaze. It says you have to complete a tomb to unlock it. So I have completed these two, but my achievements still only show that 1 challenge tomb is completed. So definitely a bug.

No, no it's not. Check again tomorrow and the game will have updated. It takes time for it to catch up with itself. I forgot about that all these years.

Just keep playing and the game will take care of itself.

No, still appears to be bugged. Even the main map shows that I have 2/2 tombs completed in this region, but the achievement says 1/9. I don't think achievements are very important, but it is a bit annoying.

Ok Flyboy did you get the rewards for completing those tombs?? If so, what were they?

Yes, Eagle Perch and Caiman's Heart. They are active on my skill tree.

Did you get a new suit and a weapon?? Should be 2 each. In the 1st town did you talk to Abby's grandma? She has a map for you to complete also. That should have been the 1st you do/did.

I can't remember that. I have a whole bunch of suits and weapons. But I did not complete the challenge tomb near the village, because I need a shotgun for that, which I do not have. The two I completed are in the Peruvian Jungle.

Thats funny cause I can't remember where I got the shotgun. There is a vendor in San Juan that sells one, but best guess sez your nowhere near San Juan.

It's hard to say what happened with you completing the DLC's. There are lot's of other places along the way for you to get in trouble. If I were you, I'd just continue playing and let the game unfold. Shadow does have NG+ so you could finish and start the NG+ and do the DLC's that way.

Thanks for the offer. No worries, I am doing just that, I am playing the game according to what I encounter. San Juan I have not found yet, I am in the hidden city. I had to skip a few tombs because I do not have the right equipment yet, but I know that I can return later. And even if the achievement does not pop, if that is the only buggy part, I don't care that much.

It is actually quite humorous now. I just got the achievement for completing three of the main game challenge tomb, but the achievement for completing all 9 main game challenge tombs now says 2/9. That last achievement is royally bugged.
