New Game Plus - Jaguar Fang knife

Does the Jaguar Fang knife from the Jaguar path in New Game Plus actually... make any difference? I'd assume it acts as a Finely Crafted Knife if you don't already have one, but aside from that I don't see that it actually changes anything. You only use the knife for stealth attacks which are one-hit-kills anyways. Melee attacks still use the axe.

By contrast, the weapons for the other two paths are the bolt-action rifle, a suppressed, high-damage rifle which functions VERY well - its only limitation being the amount of helmeted enemies, but it can even kill some weaker enemies with a single bodyshot, and the poison bow, which is a high damage, high hold time bow with a poison that seems to cause enemies to stagger. Both of which are good.

The Jaguar skills seem the best but its weapon seems utterly useless. Am I wrong?

the knife is just eye-candy for the most part. but you can't use it til after the 1st camp-site.
