Noob question here:

Since I didn't like the original outfits, I was looking for some nice mods with classic outfits and stuff.

If I use any mods, can they mess with the game files, even though it's just cosmetic and visual changes?

Any nice mods to recommend?

About mods 'messing' with gamefiles.
Yes, mods can mess with gamefiles simply because they are 'mods' wich mean a modification of some files to obtain and or circumstance basic files originaly written by the developers.
That means that code will be overwritten and or deleted by files other then recommended, even if its is 'just visiuals'.

Though there are very good moddifications of games around out there in this huge universe of coding, I suggest try to guugle around to maby understand that your game might be totaly deleted if you are not aware with the risks. Olso look if any mods are updated and the developer have at least a instruction how to install it.

If I am not mistaken, Nexus-mods by Black Tree Gaming still had some 'visiual' mods for sottr but I am not sure if i't still up there, you might want to look there first.

You might want to register for to take part on the forums, have support and make friends.
The community there is awsome and will advice you with very good info as well wich is critical sometimes when adding mods to your games.

most of them don't work properly, i've been trying all night to make them work the the shorts by jostar, but they don't. you have to jump through too many hoops getting special k to work. most tutorials are convoluted. i use nexus for re2,dmcv,fallout etc and this game is almost impossible to mod. most people moved on from the game so theres no help. wish i could.

You cant use most until you pass a certain mark, which might be over the time you can refund it.
the first camp wont allow you to change costumes either. just a slog. devs seem to be activists, and don't listen to fans. i got 40mins of play time left and if i cant get them to work ill be getting that refund

This is really bad news.
It's disappointing how so many devs are turning their backs to the fans.
And completely ignore the fact that most those fans were the ones who made the franchise a success since the begining.

I hope they can reconsider this in the future games, looks like they are not launching anything else to this one.

Yes, some of the mods have issues. However, i managed to get few running and it looks great. Now i have lara in tight shorts and belly free top.
