How are we expected to know the solution to the Jesus cross puzzle?

Under the Mission of San Juan we have to move some light onto certain pictures or depictions of the crucifixion of Christ. If you choose wrongly, you die.

I looked all around for clues or hints and there were not any. I checked journal entries and letters I had found, and couldn't see anything.

Were we expected to just use trial and error until we find the right ones? If so, that's terrible game design and unrealistic. Lara would not be able to do that because there is no reload in real life.

There are clues...Jonah and Lara talk about it...and the pamphlet even shows you what it looks like....only thing to figure out is 'how to get the beam of light on the correct display'

It's one of the easiest puzzles in the entire game.

make sure you listen to Jonah from first cross above ground, I didn't on my first run through and missed the first clues. So I didnt know what number I was looking for in the last area.

I had no idea what he was talking about unfortunately. He kept saying stuff like "Jesus falls for the second time" and I had no idea why. I must have missed this pamphlet, that would have explained it all.

After arriving in town I went and finished all the tombs and side quests and found all the secrets, I don't even remember being given a pamphlet. It was about 2 weeks later when I finally went in the church.

Exists special item-brochure for this riddle. If you didn't found it - that's your problem.
But in case if you found - it's easiest puzzle.

This is the worst puzzle of the entire game and it is even broken, did the exact same sequence two times in a row but died the second time boring.
