Can't swing on rope in Trial of the Spider (PC)
I'm trying to jump off the platform and swing into the hole about the spider ediface. So I grapple to the stalagtite and expect to be able to swing on the rope to reach the hole. No such luck on the PC. The buttons I would normally use for swinging on a rope either do nothing (A and D) or have Lara crawl up and down the rope (W and S). I've watched a video of how it's supposed to work - but it doesn't for me. I haven't come across any other problems with the game so far.

Any help appreciated!

So you have to hold down mouse button 1 to get her into 'swing' mode and then use the motion keys. Weird!

Rope swings in Shadow are alittle more complex to do. If your having problems with it, start by changing the key bind's, Doing so allows you to rethink and see how the move done. They become much easier after that.

Weird! I have to hold the right click down and not the left click.

It sez to hold left or rite mb, but that is just to release it, once you do that you have the freedom to go in any 1 direction. The release is jump, roll or use command.

i have that problem also.
im trying every combination of buttons here.
poor laura on my PC has been hanging from that rope in trial of the spider like a whale that got caught on a fishing pole for 3 days now.

You climb down till she stops, hold 1 mb and the repell starts. release mb and she will continue going down. To swing you hold down the mb again. If you don't do this she will start to climb back up the rope. once you reach a full swing press jump and foward then maybe E if she needs to grab a ledge. She can also rotate 360' if need be to get into position.

Only if you ignore the tutorial messages explaining how to do a rope swing. The game does explain it.

The game does not explain it. It only told me to hold either of the mouse buttons. It never specified that it is necessary to also use the movement buttons...

Anyway, thanks to this post I was able to get through the trial. Thanks.

Really...? You needed to be reminded to "move"...?

Yes, the game does explain how to do all movements. In fact the use of the repple n swing commands are one of the 1st you learn and come's to you at the mouth of the cave where you find the knife. The KB/M does require more focus n timing on your part. A controller is a toy for kids and not really used by many adults. But it does make some movement easier to do.
