gpu bound help? 88%?
I'm pretty new to pc gaming cound someone please help me out in really simple step by step terms haha, as i dont know much about pc's

im running the game pretty much max settings in 1440p except im using shadows on low, bloom, motion blur turned off, and im using SMAAT2x, Dx12 and HBAO+, when doing the benchmark test my gpu was 91% bound and just did another and it says 88% now. not sure how to get it higher tbh, in cities my fps is around 68 fps. in caves and tombs it shoots up to around 75-90+ fps. everything else is set at ultra so im not getting bad preformance at all or any crashes, im just confused why my gpu bound isnt 100% i have no idea how to change it in settings. only thing ive ever done to my pc to change it is installed msi afterburner and changed when my fans kick in at certain temps.

i have gtx 1080 g1 8gb GDDRX5

i7 8700k 3.7 ghz

16 gb DDR4 ram

switch to dx12 if you can. dx11 bottlenecks something fierce. in dx12 I get a minimum of 83fps in dx11 its more like 56.
im using dx12 already. benchmark wont go higher i dont understand why or how to make it higher. :(
I tried it with DX12 on and off. No change.
Same I tried with dx12 on and off and wasn’t much of a difference. Dx12 was better though. I’m just confused how to get max gpu bound. Don’t have much pc knowledge so I need help haha.
Since your posting in this forum, I can see your making progress. The top 3 topic's here are pinned, there pinned to tell you look here b4 asking what you don't know. 1 of those pinned topic's is tuning, it will give you the best advice for your pc n this game. What setting to use and why, and any known bugs or issue's.

After reading and following there suggestion's, you will walk away knowing more then most here will tell you. Then start playing, if you have problems you can ask the questions and get the answer you can understand.

I'll be here when you complete what I asked and help with any questions then. sound good?
Did you try turning off volumetric light. But i warn you, you turn off volumetric light and the game suffers a serious downgrade
I will get it a read and see if it’s help! :) and I currently have it turned on, but turning it off doesn’t improve my fps much
i dont have any issues running the game, its never crashed or had major problems, im just confused on how to get my gpu bound to max and why i cant get over 91%

I totally misread your post. In all honesty, the problem you're having is a good one and you should just go and enjoy the game.

to get it 100% your gonna have overclock it, but based on the rig spec's you don't need or have to go there. Don't push what you don't need. If the games runs without problems and looks like it could jump out of the monitor at you.........well thats as good as its gonna get. Overclocking has heat n burnout issues for any PC. I wish I had your rig.

Ah okay thanks for the info! I’m new to pc gaming so I don’t really trust myself or know anything about over clocking. I don’t wanna mess with stuff I don’t understand. What I did was set tomb raider as highest priority
For my gpu and that boosted the FPS from 55 in cities to 65 ish. I’ll leave it as that :) unless someone knows another way without overclocking. Thanks for the help anyway
With all due respect and this is a common phrase, Defaults are for dummy's. With your rig you can afford to be a dummy and let the game default for you and it will look n play better then any tweekiing you can do. You should be playing and not wasting your time here.

Come find me if you get lost or stuck at some point in the game and I'll point you the way out.
Guys what fps should I be getting on my GTX 1060 with 6 gb vram? I think I am not getting as much fps as I should be getting. I am getting around 35 fps in cities. i5-6300hq 8 gb ram.

That's about right.. the 1060 really isn't the best gaming card. The 1070 and 1080 do a LOT better. A 980 will FAR out perform a 1060
