Possible Fix for Out of Memory Error

If any of you are having Out Of memory errors(screenshot below), and validating your files does not work, try these fixed dlc files. I found out they were the cause. Anytime i had them in my installation folder, the game would give me the error, but once i took them out, i could play on the latest patch. I found out that i had corrupt versions and steam was not able to fix them.


I did not want to have to roll back to the previous version through steam beta branch so i found working dlc files. If this works for everyone, that means we can all play on the latest version now.

just extract the files and put them in your shadow of the tomb raider folder



for anyone skeptical about these files, they are from the game itself. they have not been altered. They are just from my friend who has a not bugged copy of the game.


The files in the rar file are;

bigfile.dlc.weapon.10.002.000.tiger
bigfile.dlc.weaponpack.1.002.000.tiger
bigfile.dlc.weaponpack.2.002.000.tiger
bigfile.dlc.weaponpack.3.002.000.tiger

So your "solution" is to install some unknown files from unknown source. Sounds like a perfect way to get hacked.

Scan the files with your virus scan once the file had downloaded. DO NOT OPEN the file until you do as malaire is correct.

They are not unknown files. They are files from the game itself. You cant hack these files and you cant get hacked from these files.

The filenames are;

You do realize that Steam gives everyone the same files right? Person A doesn't just get a bugged copy while person B does not. It doesn't work that way. It sounds like if anything what should be done is rename the files specified and then have Steam verify game files. Once it can no longer see those files it should download the latest ones.

Trust me, i understand this. I have been on steam for over 10 years. I get how this works. This is very bizarre but the files listed above that i get from steam just do not work and cause the out of memory error. I dont know what is causing it and It makes no sense to me, but this is the only thing that fixed it for me. I should make a video of this. As soon as i put the other files back that steam gave me, the game gives me the error.


Again, i know this doesn't make sense, but its the only fix that worked for me.

that file is 2.1Gb. i cant upload it. you are missing a huge chunk of the game.
