Terrible performance in cities
its like the game is crushing the cpu in crowded areas, the cpu usage and gpu usage is awfull in places like kuwaq yaku, we need a patch, can anyone confirm how his game is running in these areas? its not been great for me
pc specs:
gtx 1070
i5 6500
16 gb ram

You realise open world games like this take a bigger toll on CPU's hell I upped GTA V to 2k with everything on Ultra and was getting frame drops in the more populated areas and I have a 8700k and a gtx 1080. So don't act like you know anything about computers if you don't know the most basic thing like populated areas are gonna take a toll on your CPU.
i know that dude, no ♥♥♥♥ sherlock, you are calling shadow of the tomb raider an "open world" game? hahaha wtf, it looks pretty linear to me, not so "open", there are so many games that looks better and run smoother than sottr
SMH learn about computers before coming back please.

My gosh go play Watch Dogs 2 or Mafia 3 and your CPU will be eaten alive. Even all eight threads of my i7 gets fully pegged and several modern games. And with raytracing you're going to really need a minimum of eight threads according to as it leverages quite a bit on the CPU.

watch dogs 2 runs like ♥♥♥♥ on hexacores too. in aco the difference in fps is single digits between 4 and 6 core cpus. it matters little really as those games that DO take advantage of additional cores run well even on 4. those that run bad on 4 cores run no better on 6.

in the future that will change as engines are updated and new ones come along. existing game engines though do not benefit enough from hexacores for it to be worth the upgrade.

mafia 3 is a horrendous port that was never meant to run above 30.
Let me see if I can make it real simple for you. Those games run much worse with just 4 Cores then they do with 4 cores and hyper threading. In fact both of those games run completely smooth for me when I have hyper-threading enabled but are stuttery choppy mess in spots if it's disabled. plenty other games that I can list but some people will make an excuse for every single one of them.

sorry dude but it's your cpu, I had several bottlenecks with my older i5 6600, I just upgrade to an i5 8600k oced to 4.8Ghz and I saw a huuuge improvement on cpu intense areas

I also have an gtx 1070 and I don't have frame drops at all at kuwaq yaku as you said

Unfortunately, the game has a terrible optimization. Not only in cities, although in Paikiki (Hidden City), FPS can fall from 100 to 10 in the same place. This is strange, because just move the mouse a few pixels and the game begins to stutter. And these continuous annoying freeze, especially troublesome when I jump on the walls and platforms. I have not been killed by it once. I do not know why the computer slaughters the game, the graphics in game is not so revelation.

My configuration:

i7-4790
GTX 1070
16 GB RAM

Intersting I am also having similar issues, random fps drops, random full stop freezes, then works fine. I also have gtx 1070. Just got it the other day.

It's your CPU guys. A GTX 1070 runs this game smooth...if your CPU can keep up.

NPCs are CPU-based elements. Upgrade your CPU.

One thing is strange. I have a Croft Edition. I played two days before the premiere. Then I had periodic freeze, but the game went smoothly. On the day of the official premiere Steam downloaded me 100 MB and since then the game works terribly.

Its not your PC, its the game developer.

They have a track record of releasing "Roughly Optimized" games, day one.

7700k + 1070, nothing is bottlenecked and the fps in Cities and certain areas of the Jungle just... tank.

If youre running "MSI Afterburner", you'll notice that when the FPS tanks the GPU is usually sitting at 40%-60% with no CPU bottleneck. Thats the dead give away = bad optimization.

No setting, no OC, no amount of anything will help that either.

Wait for a patch, or just play through it.

Welcome to PC gaming.

Yeah i think the same, some people here are saying that my cpu is the issue, i know its not the best but its okay for at least running the game smoother than this, lets hope for a patch

They can't patch this. This game, same as Rise and many titles to come, need a decent CPU.

Quadcores are outdated at this point, especially one without HT. No, you don't need a x$ CPU, you just need a Quadcore with HT, or a Hexacore - current mid range, yours is entry level at this point.

If you got the K-Version, OC it. Otherwise try to reduce CPU bound settings and definitely run DX12.

The CPU isn't the only problem, maybe one of them, but not the ONLY problem, because the game runs fine in every other part of the game (even intensive ones with lot of vegetation and light/shadow at 60fps)

Someone mentioned Watch Dogs 2, i run that game maxed at 1080p with an I5 6500 too without
any problem, Project Cars 2...same with Rain and Full Grid

SOTTR need a patch and i think it will come eventually, it was the same problem when Rise was released (oh yeah, and rise runs maxed without problem now)
