suggested difficulty
for who is already playing, wich one is the most balanced difficulty giving some kind of challenge? i remember past episodes being quite easy, pushing me on the hard setting usually.

Second to last (everything is set to hard with checkpoints).

Set as "wild" difficulty

"One with the jungle", which is everything on hard.

no white paint on walls and edges,
Lara won't spoil the puzzles,
Supposedly more dangerous AI
Automatic save and checkpoints.

"Deadly Obsession" is the same as the above, but you can only save at campfires.
I suggest you don't touch this on your first run because the road to the first campfire is looong, tricky and boring to replay.

The game is quite transparent with it's options, telling you the effects of each difficulty, you can even mix and match with the exception of tge hardest difficulty.

Some love the hardest, because the penalty for death is much greater due to the lack of saves making your heart race with every decision you make.

But bear in mind the camera and Lara sometimes missbehaves, or you might die from an irregular performance stutter.

Deadly obsession also doesn't show icons above enemies when they are about to detect you.

and that was a really wrong decision if you ask me.

hud customization settings should be in the gameplay options screen. this, or give us the option to set puzzles and combat to very hard and exploration to hard.

but no. it's either everything on very hard or nothing.

sometimes I wonder do game developers even play the games they make?

I should add, one more reason not to pick deadly obsession for the first run is that if you die you lose everything you made after the last save, collectibles, skill points, tombs and quests included. on the other hand, on NG+ you won't really need to do much in the world other than beating the story, so dying won't be that big of a deal.

What you wrote makes no sense.

the game doesn't allow you to set combat to very hard (=no detection icons) unless you pick the "deadly obsession" mode, which also sets exploration to very hard (= no checkpoints).

meaning, if you don't want to deal with manual saves, you're stuck with the detection icons.

In the previous games lara would hunch down when enemies were near (well not near but out of sight and could be some distance away) and we'd know instantly a battle will take place. Does difficulty Deadly Obsession remove this cheat feature?

No, but it disables enemy highlighting and so on.

Thanks!

Is there endless popups about crafting, resources, nearby items, tips, etc like the previous games also? Not talking about hints and puzzle resolvement (voice), and like stuff but just general messages. In Rise, especially, this was excessive. Something would popup on screen every 20 to 60 seconds.

Edit: For instance, this BS ( https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/947335111842336367/6396A0682EB43E24E6F9960005F88EC7DBE5B9FB/ )

I don't know about healing , but this game doesn't seem to trust the player when it comes to the grappling hook. expect a ton of those popups.

ANNNNND Thank You! I know it may seem frivolous but Rise drove me absolutly bonkers with that crap. 5 hours into that game I was just yelling at the screen "I know mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for 100th time I KNOW!" lol

I started with all at Hard to not make it too easy, and then change to easier in case some places frustrate me too much.

Here is nice comparison of all difficulty modes:
