Performance Issues
The game is fun and beautiful! but the PC version has performance issues that we hope EidosMontreal can address with an update/patch?

Issues:
1 full second game freeze stuttering, audio cutout; sometimes game crashes.
Sections with lots of NPC people to talk to, the game framerate chugs; drops 10-20fps.
The cinematic realtime cutscenes run pure as silk 60hz!
I set my game to reasonable settings;and run from 1080p to 1440p, to 1600p, 1800p, 2160p; the frame rate drops and stutters happen no matter what. Given my system below; this shouldn't be happening and i think the game needs some performance tuning!
Using the game benchmark will show you this; no matter what you do the framerate chugs in certain areas; and performs fine at 60hz in others.
Also, my dolby digital live does not work properly with this game, its only sends out some form of 2.1 or 3.1 audio. I had to switch over to Nvidia HDMI audio out to get the full 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.

Hope we can get a performance patch? Please see my system below.
The game performs amazingly at 60hz at 1440p, 1600p 1800p or 2160p when i play; but the odd occurence/situations the game framerate chugs; its not your GPU graphics card or GPU settings in game; its the game software.

My TitanXP does not get it self maxxed out; the fan blower has never gotten to super loud audible; so its not getting taxed; no matter if i run it at 1080p, 1440p, 1800p or 2160p; its the game software. the titan xp stays relatively quiet and fine; and i know when its geting taxed and i can hear the fan blowing; in this case it isn't. not your hardware, its the software.
my cpu is boosted to 4.4ghz as well and so my CPU/GPU is enough to run the game; the game itself needs some tuning. i am on direct x 11.

game settings: fullscreen; vsync on, 60hz.
anti aliasing: OFF
1080p, 1440p, 1600p, 1800p, 2160p various lowering does not help
texture: high
16x anisotropic
shadow: normal
ambient occlusion: OFF
depth of field: off
level of detail: normal
tesselation: ON
bloom:off
motion blur : off
screen space reflect: ON
SS contact shadow: OFF
pure hair: normal
vol lighting: on
lens flare: on
screen effect:off

as you can see, i am not using taxing settings for my system setup. no AA saves performance, no AO saves, and i have reasonable settings for the rest. I honestly don't think its the GPU or my system; its the game software needs tuning. Hope we can get some performance tuning patches! Thank you game developers.
its odd; the NPC parts of game the framerate chugs; but playing the game and cinematics; the framerate is fine! (for the most part.) adjusting resolution should solve the issue; but it doesn't. the drops at 1080p show evidence of that.

Did you verify your game's files? If not, do it now. Once done, click "Help" at the left top of your Steam page, click "System Information," copy and paste that information here.
thank you.

SEE MY MAIN THREAD . DX11 IS BROKEN

16 GB 1800 or 1866 DDR3 ram
NVidia Geforce 960 4 GB model
AMD FX-6300 Visheera OC to 4.2

Steady 70 FPS on 1600x900 with medium to med-low mix settings and mostly "OFF"s.
Steady 40 FPS on 1920x1080 with same settings.

Both of them experience freezes and spikes to 100% CPU usage, seemingly almost at random.

Neither LoD nor other options seem to significantly improve CPU load :V

EDIT - Also happens at 1280x720 with steady 80-90 FPS. Gonna try going exclusive fullscreen, see how that changes things.

EDIT 2-
Also happens with exclusive fullscreen, windowed mode, at all resolutions.

I see no reason for this to happen if I can run MHW at med to high at a steady 60 FPS n quite a few other 2018 releases. At the very least, all low and windowed should let me play without freezes :/

I have indeed a sort of same issue where i can play smooth 60 fps and then suddenly the game freezes for a few seconds. This happens every few minutes. It is strange because it didn't really happen yesterday.

I feel sorry or those that paid a premium to beta test for these clowns

Same here. Stutter every few seconds. WIN10 Pro, GTX1060 6GB, i5-3570K, 32GB RAM running on SSD.

- 16GB Ram
- ASRock Z370 Killer

sorry - but please gat rid of 1060´s or older - these are not for gaming! :steamfacepalm:
The stuttering almost made me quit, but setting priority to high in task manager did actually fix it for me. It's a 5 second pain in the butt, but whatever.

the fan isn't the key to see if your card is being maxed out. Install afterburn or something and look at GPU usage.

XP > ti > Xp > Titan V

also, no matter the OC, that is still a 4th gen CPU.

The V gets real close to keeping 4k 60, but don't expect the XP do it unless you are med pre-set or below.

The game runs best in dx 12 and you are using a EoL OS that doesn't support it. (support ended in January for 8.1)
Update to Windows 10, use dx12 and you should be in a better place.

also here are some benchmarks from (the much faster) Titan V

(moving to dx12 is personally what i think we'll help the most)

use DX12. It is the suggested and provides much better perf that dx11

I had same problems. Setting game to HIGH processing power fixed it. I know it sounds dumb, but it works.

Wrong. I have a 1060 & it's a good medium ranged card. Great for laptops.
