Freezes Every Few Seconds
This game's performance is horrible. Every few seconds I get framerate drops and the game will freeze up for a few seconds. It's virtually unplayable. I pay $89.99 and this is what I get. I checked and my PC can run the game. I set everything to medium quality and still it freezes.

What's your spec? Are you running latest graphics driver?

Yeah I've been encountering the same exact thing on and off. Sometimes I can play for 20 minutes without them occurring and next thing I know it's like non stop frame drops every few seconds for like 2 minutes straight. Really stressing in certain parts of the game. :steamsad:

The tutorial prompts that pop up and disappear if you move the camera even slightly are a nuisance too. Sometimes when I'm climbing the camera just completely 180's randomly without me even touching it. Then just before hopping off tonight I was trying to complete the "shoot down the nests" challenge in the first free roam of the second area and I got 3/4 of the nests and found the fourth one and no matter how many times I shot it, it remained invincible.

I'm too tired to write about anything else but before I finish I just want to say I really enjoy this game so far and if all of these bugs weren't present it'd be an easy 8/10 for me. Maybe a 9.

Go to task manager > processes tab > left click game > set priority to high

Hey guys, definitely try the "setting SoTTR to high priority in task manager" solution in the meantime. Seemed to work for myself and a few others so far, definitely not your rig. Worth a try till we get a patch!

I can confirm this

I asked for a refund. Now the Play button says Purchase but I see no refund on my statement nor do I have any email from Valve. Does this mean a refund is being precessed?

I think its related to some of Windows 10 update. Because other games like Far Cry 5 start to freezes and stutters for me after windows update. But set priority to HIGH for SOTTR resolved the issue

this game truly sux. cut scene graphics way worse compared to the previous game, mouths lit from inside and such. and it FREEZES and LAGS whenever you look around. I have a GTX1080, i4790K, running on optimized, no DX12, no Vsync. the freaking game is bugged. Kudos to developers! Claiming my money back unless there's a fix and soon. :((

I have the same issue. Will try the priority fix...

have the same issue ..i'm glad i'm not the only one ! stutter and stops the game for a second than continius realy annoing

Play in DX11 and the stutter is gone. Sadly the fps in CPU-intensive scenes are way worth, but at least no stutter (which makes the game unplayable). I have it too with 7900x@4.9Ghz + 1080Ti on 3440 :)

It's not available which means I think the game enables it by default.

I'm having a similar issue.

Every few minutes the game freezes up (and nothing has any effect, can't even ctrl-alt-del out) but after 10-15 seconds, goes back to normal like nothing happened.

And the rest of the time I'm running it on very high settings, smooth as butter.

Lower settings doesn't fix it either. So......

I can confirm that setting priority to high for process resolved my issue.
