Voice-over immersion is silly when Lara only speaks English
She can fully understand complex spanish sentences, but only responds in english, and the locals don't bat an eye. Not very immersive, lol

How would expect them locals to respond though? Start swearing off with '♥♥♥♥♥♥ this and that'?

i set it to everyone talks english just feels better that way. the full imersion audio comes off kinda silly. Kinda hard to have lara speak the native language, or she prity much be talking like that for most of the game lol

I suspect most just wouldn't understand her? It's not like we're in a tourist spot where everyone speaks english.

Anyway, it's only 'immersive' if the actual player also understands Spanish fluently. Otherwise it wouldn't be any different from speaking French or Japanese throughout the game.

I only understand few words of Spanish but it does seem immersive to me - much better option than to use English. (And I am using English subtitles to actually understand what is being said.)

At least you have a head start.

However do keep in mind there are plenty of players that aren't from North nor South America.

The only thing i have to complain about that non of the local people seem to have really any form of dialect ... I would wish they would have worked more on that.. Its ok they all speak english because this way you can understand whats said and whats going on without the need to read a subtitle

Yeah it's not how immersive audio suposed to be. Lara should speak native language as well OR they should communicate "hard way".

Having lived in Japan for 3 years, I can say that there were quite a few who understood English just fine but didn't like speaking it. It wasn't uncommon to hear one person speaking Japanese while the other spoke English.

Isn't "♥♥♥♥♥♥/Gringa" used to refer to American citizens though, while Lara is English?

At least they had the voice-over immersion as an option. Too many games these days have voice-actors doing blatantly fake and over-exaggerated anglicised foreign accents while trying to sound like a native from a country represented in-game.

Got a good laugh out of Graham McTavish trying to pronounce "Dyfed" - a Welsh word - in Hunted: The Demon's Forge. :D

Right, in Japan. But we're talking about an unspoiled hidden city in Peru where people are still wearing loin cloths and ♥♥♥♥... not Japan.

Would have been better for Lara to respond in their native language. There would have always been the subtitle option even with that.

Which probably requires a complete change of voice actresses as Camilla Luddington probably doesn't speak Spanish (and then it would need to be Mexican and Peruvian dialects, not regular Spanish.)

But then, half the NPCs, such as Uchu, still speak English (with fake/exaggerated stereotypical Spanish accents) to Lara even with Voice-Over Immersion active.

Just experienced this, turned the option off immidiately, I'd expect Lara to be able to understand if not speak back to locals in native language of the land as an explorer and archeologist/tomb defiler, she has shown the ability to read mayan/aztec/greek-roman ancient texts easy enough.

It ruins the immersion more rather than enchanche it in middle of hecking nowhere in Peru, Lara I can get, but not from a dude who was just whittling flint to stick on his arrowhead and that includes the hidden city denizens. Who can understand english well enough, for *some* reason.

My choice is to change game language to Spanish in Steam, and then select following options in game:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1518352303

Now Lara speaks Spanish to them and they answer with their local language, with English subtitles for everything.

(Actually all audio is in Spanish now, but since Spanish language pack also includes English audio, I can change between Spanish/English audio ingame if I want to hear English for some parts of game.)
