can I keep survival senses but shut Lara with her hints up?
Seriously. I don't want to go straight to the puzzle, I want to explore area and gather everything first!

I feel you on this one. I'm just using survival senses to highlight "stuff". I know what I SHOULD be doing, Lara, but give me a few minutes, please!

Yes, you can.. Exploration controls survival sense, and there is a seperate setting for the combat and puzzles. Dial it up to max and she does not say a word.

No. that's not it.

Puzzle difficulty - hard. No hints by Lara. No Survival instincts.
Puzzle difficulty - normal. General hints by Lara. Survival instincts on.

What I want is No Hints by Lara, Yes survival insticts. Game does not give such option for me.

After choosing difficulty, once you're in the game itself, You can do as Blade says above. You can enable/disable survival sense interactables and Lara Hints individually in the ingame gameplay options.

Or well, to correct myself here: If you choose hard, which disables her hints and the glow, you can enable the glow afterwards.

Something nice that works well is the Tobii eye tracker and the Survival Instinct. As you look around--without hitting Q or whatever binding--Survival Instinct highlights the item(s) in the general area you are looking at.

It feels kinda natural and like your playing or looking through the eyes someone with just a bit more skill & knowledge about this stuff than you do. I have to say, this is best use of the Tobii gizmo I've seen in any game (usual stuff is pants, agreed). I turned most the rest off and upped the setting for SI use, it's quite seamless and appropriate.

And no Lara Hints telling you "solve puzzle by doing X next".

Probably this is of little help or interest though.

Its close, but still not quite it. It stops showing the items on the ground. And I like when the items are highlighted, I don't feel like making items hidden should be linked to 'puzzle difficulty'.

Yes, its better than the old games, where you had no option whatsoever, but still, I would rather prefer Lara not to tell me 'I need to make X to Y'. I can figure it out myself, just show me where the boxes are. Hope someone will make a mod that disables her voice in-game and leaves in cut-scenes.

You should be able to enable glow in hard, but it's not working for me.

obviously its really important that you understand you need to get the water into the wheel, can't have one without the other
