What's with the eclipse?
I must be missing something basic in the story line. I understand an eclipse was observed with religious wonderment by indigenous peoples. But what's it's importance in the game?

I'm bursting Dominquez golden bubble now City of the Serpent. I see the eclipse dominates the scene but don't understand how an eclipse ties into the story. Like I said I'm apparently missing some basic info. When and where was this initially discussed?

It's discussed in several instances before Lara gets to the hidden city (Patiti).
Think back to her first encounter with Dominquez.
Think about Lara's conversation with Unuratu.
it's there, the story and the explanation regarding the eclipse.

Honestly I wasn't really interested in the story at all. I felt like other games did a much better job building up the tension, then releasing the huge climax while providing a memoriable scene and music, than SOTTR did. There's like barely any build up in SOTTR at all, it's just a rollercoaster ride that doesn't really know where to go. The main villain (not the women from the underworld) is so forgettable, with very cliche tropes on power and corruption. When I saw the Eclipse at the end, I didn't even realize it's importance other than Lara having to sacrifice herself (this is not a spoiler, don't be stupid!). The end story teases Lara having a shadow, when the sun shines through, I'm like what? And there really isn't anything that happens after that, you don't see Paititi get restored or anything like that. Just a small part where the boy is happy and lets Lara stay in his village, Joana is getting ready to leave, and Lara is just joking around laughing and having a good time.

That was my biggest problem with this game. I never once felt gripped by the story, as I did with the previous two. With TR and Rise I felt an urgency, got to press on, save my friends, beat the bad guys. With this...eh.

Lmao this.

Already played the first two games in the trilogy, might as well get the last one over and done with.

Lara must save world or world gets destroyed. It isn't any deeper than that.

Edit: And this too!

"Apparently by taking the dagger without the box, Lara has triggered a "cleansing"—a series of disasters that will end with the death of the sun. Oops!"- Stella. I forgot about the silver box. Don't remember what happened to it. I'm assuming the dagger gets re-united with the silver box and then the sun re-appears?
